Once again, WWE Universe. We had the entire card of Cyber Sunday in our hands to decide the fate of those who competed tonight, and once again history was made. In all honesty this was a VERY great Cyber Sunday this year. I was intensely pleased with the votes, and the outcomes of the matches. VERY pleased indeed. I didn't make it to the live blog in time for Cyber Sunday to begin, but I kept my attention to the coverage being taken on the site itself and I can make a good review for it with just that.
The night kicked off with the preview match. Shelton Benjamin defended his United States Championship against an opponent of our choosing. And it was a landslide vote at 59% for R-Truth. The match was short, and I have to admit it was sweet as well. At least Shelton kept it clean and it was oozing athleticism from both men. I got to watch the match myself and was pleased to watch it. It was clean at least but I was hoping for R-Truth to win the title. Oh well, he'll get another shot pretty soon.
Our first official Cyber Sunday match was Rey Mysterio vs. Kane. We got to pick the match. No Holds Barred, Falls Count Anywhere, or 2 out of 3 Falls. Despite the outcome I wasn't pleased with the results of the voting. Come ON you guys think smart! Rey would've been squashed in the No Holds Barred match. To me he barely seemed to get out of it. 2 out of 3 Falls would definately have tipped into his favor no problem. Stop thinking with such a brutal conscience and start thinking smart! Eh.. at least Rey won the match. Congratulations Rey Mysterio! David has once again become the winner against Goliath ( The concept I mean. David is the victor in the David vs. Goliath concept )
And now to me this was the match of the night as expected. A landslide 69% of us, the WWE Universe, voted in Evan Bourne to face Matt Hardy for the ECW World Heavyweight Championship. And this was the show stealer of the night, Ladies and Gentlemen. Just as promised. The most intensifying match of the night that stole the show. Evan had Matt going and gave him a run for his money. It seemed Evan would become a champion so early in his career. Matt had the last word however with one final Twist of Fate. A very awesome match. This is the sole reason why I want to see Cyber Sunday is this match. I'm very proud for both of these men, and mostly for Evan Bourne. This man has a great future ahead of him in WWE. And he's already earned the respect of the ECW brand, and he's had mine ever since his first week. Great job Evan. You'll get your due soon. I promise. And you've already got another invitation from Matt to face him for the title again. Good luck Evan!
Oh and yet another vote came into play as expected. We got to pick the Tag Team match. The winning vote as predicted and also voted for by me, was Cryme Tyme vs. Miz and John Morrison. Great match. Sadly Miz and Morrison won. Damn it... I highly doubt Cryme Tyme is far from giving up on going after those two, and I applaud them. They'll get back at 'em soon. This war between the .COM-batants ( lol ) is FAR from over!
And a very unique vote for tonight, we pick a legendary former Intercontinental Champion to face the Unibrow of Italy, and the current champion, Santino Marella for the title. And it was Honky Tonk man that won the vote, sadly the match did not end the same way as the reaction from those who voted for Honky Tonk man winning. It was a DQ but the other two votes came in to be sure to send a message to Santino that they aren't taking $h1@ from him again. I still wish Rowdy won the vote but oh well. I should've considered the fact of Honky Tonk man being the longest reigning IC champion a reason to vote for him. But he was still a good choice.
Landslide voting kicked in for Jeff Hardy alone to face Triple H for the WWE Championship... Ah man!!! Jeff lost once again.. I really want him to finally grab onto that belt! I'm getting tired of him only getting so close then letting the brass ring slip out of his hands... Again, nothing against Triple H. Congratulations on retaining. You've made a long reign this year and I'm glad for you.
Next was a match we got to vote for here on WWE.com. Undertaker vs. Big Show. Last Man Standing match won the vote. Again, folks. YOU'RE NOT THINKING SMART. I QUIT would've been the ideal match for these two because Undertaker has never been made to say it in his entire career! Whats' with you guys?! .. Better be glad Undertaker won because statistically Last Man Standing and Knockout definitely tipped into Big Show's favor. And Deadman barely got out of Last Man Standing tonight, but still won. I'm glad for this though.
Lastly, Batista vs. Chris Jericho for the World Heavyweight Championship. Again like last year, landslide votes came in to bring Stone Cold Steve Austin back once more to guest referee a match. Very pleased with the results of the voting and the outcome of the match. Though it got kind of rocky when the other two candidates started raising hell but got on the wrong end of a Stunner to SHUT THEM THE HELL UP!! The second year in a row, Batista in a Title match, and Steve Austin being the winning vote to be guest referee and Batista has once again won. He is ONCE AGAIN, our World Heavyweight Champion. Way to go Batista! Thank you Stone Cold, and most of all thank YOU WWE Universe, along with myself being in it, for letting your voices be heard and making more history tonight. This blog's done. CHUNKY EXPLOSION! ( ...Yeah.. new catch phrase of mine. Like it? lol .... )
