I honestly can't stand rap, I can't stand a lot of music, even some 'metal' like Avenged Sevenfold and Dragonforce.
If a rap song isn't about h**'s,cars, gangs, violence I'd call it hip-hop. I don't think it's talented, my idea of talent is being able shred, play drums, bass, any instrument really well and having brilliant vocals and lyrics.
I don't care if some people might think that rap was better before, they still don't have the things that I consider talent so yeah, I just hate rap because, in my opinion, rappers don't have talent.

You're a gotdamn idiot. What the hell do you think it takes to even construe eloquent rhyme schemes together? That comes from a man's individual creativity, and that alone displays a man's "talent". I wanna see you come up with lyricism and concepts better than Nas' repertoire. I wanna see you tell stories as in-depth as Lupe Fiasco. You can't do it simply because you don't have the "talent" that these guys have. So please get outta here with that BS "you need to play instruments to have talent" mentality.

I love rap/hip-hop and r&b music. But I also like other stuff too. I hate how people generalize ALL rap as the same thing. Only some rappers do the same thing over and over. You can't tell me that rock groups don't sing about the same things at times too. All music does at some point. It's not just rap. There is genres that I don't like but I'm not going to say they suck. Everyone has their own taste and just because I don't like it, doesn't mean it sucks.

No, rap music doesn't suck, but some rappers do.

When I heard 50 Cent's "music", I said : "DAMN, WTF IS THIS S***?". Rythm is ok, but regarding the lyrics... OH MY GOD! Like the others said, that's all about women, cars, sex, and beating the others...
On the contrary, when I heard "Diamonds from Sierra Leone" by Kanye West, both the instrumental and the lyrics are good (yeah, I really care about lyrics, 'cause I think good lyrics make a good song).
I take another example of an excellent rapper, less known in USA, but a big name in France : MC Solaar. In his song : "Solaar pleure" (in English, Solaar cries), he relates his feelings about the current state of the world including his views on poverty and AIDS.

I can list many other rappers (though I'm not a big fan of rap music), but like other kind of music, there are good and bad singers. Even in rock music, there are bad groups... So, don't generalize...

Rap is what you should say suck. It's the people that say it. Some people that intend to be rappers sound like a bunch of bull sh*t but come like Kanye West are great so it ould go either way. It was better in 'tha day'.
