X Factor leads to international row with China

ITV talent show The X Factor has caused an international row after the Chinese Embassy lodged an official complaint about noise at the contestants' home.

The Chinese Ambassador, who lives next door to the finalists, complained about the noise and disturbance caused by fans outside the house, reports The Sun.

A spokesperson for the embassy told the paper: "I can confirm there was a complaint.

"The reason is several times late at night and early in the mornings the teenage fans were noisy and disturbing."

Ambassador Madam Fu Ying was also said to be irritated by the litter and graffiti left by the teenagers who are hanging around in the upmarket area.

Fans are believed to be travelling from as far as Ireland in the hope of catching a glimpse of the show's contestants and earlier in the week, one neighbour complained to the police after a girl was seen flashing at John and Edward.

The complaints have put ITV under increasing pressure to move the finalists to a new home.

Is John and Edward's success damaging The X Factor's credibility?

Dublin twins John and Edward Grimes topped The X Factor public vote last weekend, according to newspaper reports. Yes, you did just read that correctly.

The duo, who have been slated by the show's judges for their lack of singing ability, proved a hit with viewers after their performance of the Ricky Martin hit She Bangs.

Their success meant that Danyl Johnson and Miss Frank, who were both praised by the judges, found themselves in the bottom two.

An X Factor insider told The Sun: "It is extraordinary. John and Edward were miles ahead of any other act. Whoever wins the X Factor, you can usually guarantee they can sing.

"If John and Edward win, it will no longer be a show about great singers - it could be disastrous. But you know what? It could happen."

So, is The X Factor no longer a singing contest and is it in danger of losing all credibility?

The answer to that is that it never really has been a singing contest - especially not in the early stages of the live shows.

Saturday nights on The X Factor are all about entertainment and at the moment the twins are the most entertaining act on the show. Who can honestly say that they don't look forward to seeing what they are going to perform?

Another factor for their success is likely to be that voting tends to be quite low during the initial stages, with most fans waiting until the last few weeks before picking up the phone. This would explain the massive success of Eoghan Quigg during the first weeks of the show last year, but ultimately he had to settle for third place in the final behind the much more talented Alexandra Burke and JLS.

If the twins manage to buck this trend and keep on piling in the votes right up to the show's final then the programme will have a problem. John and Edward may have a career ahead of them as TV presenters (Irish Ant and Dec anyone?) but singers they are clearly not. If they stay in until the later stages, we may see a situation similar to John Sergeant on last year's Strictly, where they voluntarily leave to save what credibility the show has left.

I hate the twins after ruining that other girls chances when they stole her part in the auditions that's one of the main reasons why I hate them.  The twins aren't entertaining at all they are annoying especially when good acts are going out like Miss Frank who gave a better performance then John and Edward.  If Simon Cowell wants to say the show is a joke then fire Louie Walsh as it was his decision of wanting John and Edward in and Simon is the boss of the show anyway.

John and Edward aren't even on the same league as Ant and Dec and never will be.

I like Stacey Solomon good singer and overall she seems like a normal nice person.

Rachel Adedeji  voted off The X Factor

Student Rachel Adedeji has become the first female contestant to be voted off ITV1 talent show The X Factor.

The 17-year-old was in the sing-off against Lloyd Daniels after receiving the smallest number of votes.

But after the judges could not decide whom to save, it was decided on the public vote.

Mentor Dannii Minogue said she did not know where it went wrong. It was the third time Adedeji had been in the bottom two.

Minogue said all the guest artists who mentored the acts had adored Adedeji.

The judge added that she hoped Adedeji went on to find success like JLS, last year's runners-up who performed their latest single, Everybody in Love, on Sunday's results show.

Head judge Simon Cowell said she sang much better than Lloyd Daniels, who was suffering from a sore throat, but that he could not ignore her lack of popularity with the public.

He then used his vote to create a tie between the judges, forcing the decision to go back to the public's vote.

Tears rolled down Adedeji's cheeks when she was told she was leaving the show.

"Thank you to everyone who has supported me," she said.

"It's been amazing and I got to meet so many lovely people and work with great judges."

She told her mentor Dannii Minogue: "You're amazing."

X Factor: Danyl Johnson’s mum on reports he bullied Stacey Solomon

The mum of X Factor hopeful Danyl Johnson has spoken out over reports that her son “bullied” fellow contestant Stacey Solomon.

According to reports, Stacey was a “sobbing wreck” after Danyl showed her a series of negative newspaper stories about her private life – even though she apparently didn’t want to see them.

But Danyl’s mum Marie has come forward to insist that the rumours couldn’t be further than the truth.

She told new! magazine: “I’m shocked and upset because it couldn’t be further from the truth. Danyl is not a bully.

“He was very badly bullied in primary school. So having been a victim of bullying, he would never become one himself.”

However, Marie did admit that Danyl, 27, and Stacey, 20, fell out earlier in the series following the Whitney Houston masterclass.

She said: “I know that they had a bit of a spat at the Whitney Houston masterclass, over nothing really. I’m not really sure what. It’s a stressful environment.”

Marie also denied reports that Danyl bullied girlband Kandy Rain, even suggested it may have been “the other way round”.

She said: “They are four very strong, very powerful and confident women – how would Danyl be able to say anything to them? Danyl told me if anything, it was actually the other way round.”

And after his difficult time in the press, Marie is no longer sure if she wants Danyl to win The X Factor.

She said: “He’s worked so hard and is so good. But another part of me wants to tell him to forget the whole thing. He’s bigger than this one programme and the way he’s been vilified isn’t fair.”

I think Danyl's great, I hope that he gets into the final. He seems like a nice guy & I wish him every success

These kids are the worst act i've ever seen...this is just horrendous

And lets not forget what they did to a classic song... this is flat out murder.

As flights of fallen angels wished me
Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder

Look it’s a complete joke that those two are still in the competition. I mean they totally ruined a classic Queen Song when they attempted to sing & they can't dance at all. But then I really shouldn’t be surprised. I mean we live in the 21st century where people judge other's on looks rather than on talent which is a crying shame.
