Trust me. The guys from Dragonforce are garbage. Have you heard them live? They dont soudnd half as good live as they do in the studio. Also, look up their "Getcha can't play this" on YouTube. It's just sad

I've never seen them live but hopefully I will sometime. One of my friends did manage to see them play though some time back & he talked to to Herman Li afterwards. Said he was a really nice guy.

Hey, I never questioned if he is a nice guy or not, I'm just saying they aren't as great as everyone thinks they are. There is more to playing guitar than a bunch of sloppy sweep picked arpeggios and fast soloing.

I understand where you are coming from and you have made some valid points. Now I have heard this argument before though. Herman Li does have a lot of critics it seems, but also quite a few fans. Now maybe I am not being truly objective when it comes to Herman’s playing style as I’m also an aforementioned fan of the band. I know that his playing style mostly consists of fast descending and ascending licks and an almost exterme use of the whammy bar for its pitch-bending effects but so did other shredders such as Steve Vai/ Joe Satriani. Also Herman is left handed but uses a right hand guitar, and he switches his hands from right hand fretting to left hand shredding when he plays. He has his own approach to the playing of the guitar, his own style if you will, such as his fondness for mmimicking the sounds and music used in video games which may not appeal to everyone. He is still  a talented guy, how else could he win the young Guitarist Award for being thebest Shredder at the 2005 Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards? He can only improve as the years go by. I’m saving judgement though till I’ve seen him live. As a final note it does annoy me that people are so negative about him, not you of course at least you have seen him play. But so many people write him off or compare him to guitarists who are twice his age so have much more experience. Herman Li has a passion for playing & teaching the guitar & I’m sure that he has a few more suprises in the future for us as his playing style evolves.

Awards mean nothing in music. Tommy Emmanual never won a huge music award yet he smokes Herman in every way.

I'm a Herman Li fan but I will concede to you on this occasion that Tommy Emmanuel is the better guitarist of the two, I would be crazy to contest that as the man has extraordinary guitar playing abilities . But don't be too quick to write off good old Herman just yet. By the way Tommy's touring the UK in March; I’m going to see if I can get tickets to see him. Maybe he'll own up to being a massive DragonForce fan, lol.
