because the anti cena smarks always have something negative to say about him. It was the same with Jeff.

There is no problem to fix with John Cena. It's annoying to no end when people post about all the changes John Cena should make to get the right reaction. That's typically said by people who can't pay attention to what's actually happening. John Cena is a money-drawing heel for half the crowd, and a money-drawing babyface for half the crowd. He isn't turning fans who don't like him off at all; in fact, they're paying money to boo him loudly and see him lose. He is already a strong heel on a dominant run with those people. The fans who like him are getting exactly what they want and are paying to see him keep winning. Everybody wins.

I repeat -- there is no problem to fix with John Cena. The reaction he is getting is so unique and overwhelming, and no one else in wrestling is capable of generating that type of response right now. WWE is playing to this by booking him in situations where he can come out as both a strong babyface and a strong heel, and the fact that he's now working another top babyface in an extended feud is even more perfect.

Can anyone really come up with any other reason live attendance is so strong? People are paying to make themselves heard as it relates to John Cena. I think that's pretty obvious. House shows aren't hyped and have nothing on them, and they're drawing big numbers right now because the Cena haters can go and try to boo him out of the building, and his fans can go and get a spinner belt and maybe a t-shirt. It's really, really hard to dispute this.

Cena in the ring is constantly trying new things, and has some pretty inventive selling. His matches all feel pretty different from each other (compare the Edge/Cena match from Iraq to the hometown matches earlier in '06, compare the two Michaels matches, compare the two Umaga matches) and he works really hard. He's not busting out brand new offensive moves in every match (although he changes things up pretty frequently) but his selling is as good as that of Rey or Benoit.

For those of you that hate John Cena and think you're being worked, you're right, but you're not being worked by a bunch of DVDVR message board posters. You're being worked by WWE. And it's great that WWE has found an actual heel that can get emotion out of an audience that knows it's all fake, as his matches have a more genuine reaction than anyone's matches in wrestling today. The more you scream, the longer Cena's push will continue, so please keep screaming and booing, as the result of the screaming and booing is a pretty damned great run with a fresh face headlining big money shows. Cena has held the belt for all but a few weeks here and there for the past two years and shows no signs of being stale, no signs of slowing down. If anything, he's only going to get better, be more over, sell out more shows and re-energize the wrestlers who are programmed with him for years to come.

Angle got enough momentum out of a Cena feud to turn babyface.

HHH had tried a big babyface run years before that bombed and didn't really get over at all. He was forced to go back to his old act. He works with Cena and finally has a strong enough opponent to give him the rub he needs to turn babyface again and reform DX. He rode the wave of that for the rest of the year.

For all the talk of Edge being so far superior to John Cena and being the one carrying him, where are all the great Edge matches against other guys? Can you really argue that outside of that feud with each other, Edge has had a better run the past 6-12 months? WWE has been attempting to make him a main event guy for years and years, and it never worked until he went over Cena. He got over enough as a heel opposite Cena that his act didn't lose a step when he lost Lita as a valet, and can you really say he could have gotten over without her a year prior?

Umaga is a character that feels like he was transplanted on RAW straight from 1986. Umaga has been really strong in the role, but it was going to take a good opponent to get the most out of it, without it seeming like some parody of a feud with a top heel challenger being a monster in an era where no one really believes in monsters. It worked. They had two terrific matches. Umaga left the feud with momentum he didn't have going into it.

We're seeing a side of Michaels we haven't seen in a long time right now. I'm sure when the Cena feud is over, he will be better off for it. Everyone is.

You could go back further and argue Jericho and Christian as guys who would have benefitted from being programmed against Cena had they stuck around. It's not a really compelling and strong argument but it's one that could be made. Even without that, it's hard to deny that Cena has been very successful in the spot he's been put in.
Saying pro wrestling and MMA and boxing are all the same is a bit like saying ducks, swans and geese are all the same. Sure, they share some common DNA, but they're still clearly different.
