He is returning but you'll have to wait a while. Wiki says:
On the August 28 episode of SmackDown, Punk defeated Hardy in a steel cage rematch for the World Heavyweight Championship, resulting in Hardy being forced to leave WWE, in storyline, per the pre-match stipulation. This storyline was put in place to allow Hardy to leave WWE to heal his injuries, including a neck injury. Hardy also had two herniated discs in his lower back and was suffering from Restless legs syndrome.
Plus, he's going to Jail!
Yeah. These injuries are either real or they`re a cover up to protect us children with sensitive feelings so that we won`t have to know the truth underneath why Jeff Hardy isn`t coming back to SD for a very long time.
Mmm... Shawn Michaels... I mean smoothie.
I am a fan of: Shawn Michaels, CM Punk, John Morrison, Edge, Evan Bourne, Beth Phoenix, Christian, AJ Styles, Alex Shelley, and Chris Sabin.

You people do a great job at making yourselves look incredibly stupid and foolish. Jeff's not coming back for a long time if at all. He's accomplished a lot with the WWE and he's done with wrestling, for now. As for his drug use goes, news flash people, HE IS NOT THE FIRST WRESTLER TO HAVE DRUG PROBLEMS AND LEGAL ISSUES. Just to name a favorite who also had similar issues, Eddie Guerro was an alcoholic and was even fired for refusing to go rehab. Then he was arrested for a DUI. The WWE still brought him back. Or, another example, Ric Flair, who pulled a driver from their car and beat the **** out of him for cutting him off. But he's still a fan fav and the WWE still kept him around. So those of you who think Jeff's never going to come back because the WWE "doesn't want him" are making themselves look like fools. Do some research before you run your mouth and spew your hateful nonsense because you're so bitter with your own lives you have to judge others.
I miss old school WWE!!!

You are another teenage girl, writing with a wave who thinks then " J33FF H@rdY iws su AwEeS00M3!!11!!1! Luvv H11m!!1 :):):) hissosw33t1 Sw333ttt " You don't give a damn cr@p about wrestling and you are watching it for " h00t stufff", and buying hardy shirts, caps, wristbands etc. etc. it's because of people like you WWE is some pathetic, non-wrestling, Pg rated trash of a show. Feel Guilty.
I, I, I think I'm in, have my babies! It's like meeting a long lost twin who has the exact same opinions as me.
All the little kids and fangirls who may have been fat and/or emo can tell their story walkin'. Jeff is in trouble, and even if he finds a way out of this because he's a "celebrity" he is not welcome in the WWE. Accept your new hero! Accept him!

ROFL. I'd prefer him over Jeff any day.
For a big guy, he's actually a decent wrestler. He's slow, but I'd rank him higher than Big Show and Mark Henry. Plus he has the best t-shirt in the history of the universe. Jeff can't compare.
"I am the Epidemic, the Devil's Advocate, the Olympian, the trail blazin', killswitch engagin', the Breaker Busting, Ragdollizing, The Predictor, the Angel of Chaos, your baby's baby's daddy, Horono."
"I hear them cry out in the night. Their screams tell a tale of pain, suffering, and destruction. Every ounce of forgiveness and acceptance has been ripped from them. My own Advocate has become this monster, this, devil. He abandoned his old life and became new. This, Angel of Chaos, must be stopped. It doesn't matter if the Heavens and Earth are destroyed in the process. Horono must be stopped."
Settle down, take your ritalin, and go cry emo kid!
Top 10 Favorite Wrestlers 1. John Morrison 2. Edge 3. Chris Jericho 4. The Miz 5. Bret Hart 6. The Sandman 7. Mick Foley 8. Stone Cold 9. Christian 10. The Rock
