No way, World Champions should be ready to defend their championship whenever requested, after all, a world champion is seen as the best on the show (realistically / in kayfabe) Hell, even if its 5 minutes after a championship capture, gives heel general managers a loop hole.

Instead of a waiting period just have them earn their way up the roster again instead of waiting a PPV and announcing they are in the title hunt when they never went back through the roster. Atleast go through the main event roster if you don't want them to go through mid cards. Give other people a chance for the title also instead of just the same 3 to 4 people that just switch it around just those people.

there shouldn't be a waiting period, but Punks like CM Punk shouldn't come out and ruin a great showing from two of the great young superstars of the WWE. CM Punk deserves whatever happens when Jeff Hardy gets a hold of him.

If this was real competition, I'd say yes. But it's not, so there really isn't a reason to have a waiting period. Just whatever makes the show exciting is all that matters.
