Jeff didn't have to win..they could have easily done something like this:
Punk retains. Jeff wants another shot. Punk cuts a promo saying Jeff is an "ultimate risktaker" so he asks him to take the ultimate risk. He'll put up the belt if Jeff puts up his WWE Contract. Jeff wins, its all good, he wins the title. He loses...Jeff goes bye-bye. It would give Jeff a proper sendoff if he in fact is taking time off and if he doesn't, have him win the title there if the WWE wants to make it the 2nd biggest PPV of the year.

at summeslam its gonna be winner is the champion, loser leaves wwe. And in the meantime they have got to turn things much more personal, kinda like Orton vs HHH in the beginning, so theres a major reason for one of them having to leave the company
