As we know he really did a bunch of time in prison. He acts though like he was born in "the hood" and now he helps kids like him that were born there. He is basically using the "I'm a poor black man, it isnt my fault" thing. But in reality, he was born and raised in an upper class family and had no excuse to turn to crime other than he is a thug.
Now I know that they portray characters different from themselves, but he is talking about a real event that happened in his life, and trying to decieve us into respecting him when he deserves none.
Good point. But you have to respect him for one thing, He realized what his mistake was and worked hard to live a good life. Yes he was in jail, but he knows what he did wrong and doesnt do it again. You have to keep in mind that 90 % of the people dont see their mistakes or dont want to see them and return to where they left off, Im not defending him im just saying that i respect him for that.
I'll give him credit for getting out of prison and changing his life. Most dont do that. But he acts like he is from the hood. He even said on the show to Swagger that he grew up in the hood and got caught in the gangster lifestyle and went to prison. And gimmicks are ok, but it sound to me like he is trying to make an excuse for a real event that happened in his life, like maybe if people think he grew up in the hood instead of in a 2 story suburban home, we wont care that he is a criminal.

Being a poor, Black man has nothing to do with it. There are tons of White gang bangers as well. Does the Aryan Brothers hit a chord?
Also, MVP went from being a troubled criminal into a upstanding WWE superstar. That deserves respect in my book.
I know that race doesnt matter. But he is trying to play the excuse that most black criminals do if asked why they went to prison. "I grew up in the hood, I never knew my dady, etc." but he really grew up in a wealthy family.

When did MVP say he grew up in the hood?

This is the same guy who had some kind of stupid theory as to why ''black wrestlers aren't talented'' so why the hell is anyone taking him seriously?
