in the long-run...is HULK HOGAN in TNA...a blessing or a curse?

let's face it...

while Hulk Hogan and his name is a big + for TNA, as far as getting noticed and attracting more big names into the company...

if we look back at the years that followed his signing with WCW...

could this eventually hurt the company and its product in the long-run...

back in the 90's, when WCW was floundering and needed a big name, they signed Hogan and almost got more national exposure overnight then it ever did in the preceeding decade...

and, it was such a big enough draw to have Hulk Hogan's name and image attached to the product, that they were able to get huge names in the wrestling game at the time to jump ship to WCW...

...Bret Hart...
...Randy Savage...
...Ultimate Warrior...
...Kevin Nash...
...Scott Hall...

(yes, i know the last two started in WCW, so i don't need the history lesson. but, they were BIGGER in the WWF at the time they jumped)

until, eventually, as is usually the case whenever you go into business with Hogan, his ego got the better of him...which in turn, boosted the egos of a lot of others who followed his lead...

...until, ultimately, the company went out of business...

a clear case of spreading the wealth too thinly, except when it came to those that hardly worked at all...

Scared

so, can the same fate be in store for TNA...

TNA...WAS...a great product and a great alternative to WWE when it first started out, showcasing talent you'd never seen before, doing things you'd never seen before...

it wasn't until they started making it a common practice of signing former WWE talent that it started to suffer...

the bigger fish were eating up the little fish in their pond...

talent like AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, and Monty Brown soon found themselves forced into the backseat, while people like Booker T, Steiner, Nash, Christian, Sting and Kurt Angle took over the reigns and were practically calling the shots and getting themselves in every title match one or another...

only recently have they started to turn the attention back onto the homegrown talent and getting Angle's ego in check to get everyone on the same playing field...

but, Hogan?

how long will it take until Hulk Hogan is going to be holding that world title over his shoulder? if his "meteoric" rise to the championship in WCW is any indication...not very long...maybe even by year's end...or February at the latest...

and, how long will it take for the homegrown talent to be sacrificed once again for momentary gain when the flood gates open and the "Iron Horses" of wrestling come stampeding back...

now, don't get me wrong...

i think this is a great set-up for a great company-vs-company rivalry for the next decade at least...competition is good...lord knows the wrestling scene is long overdued one...

but, could it also be a set-up for the inevitable fall of yet another promising federation?

I think signing Hogan to TNA is more of a risk, but I wouldn't consider it a curse or blessing.  Hogan can be good for TNA because of the star power he can bring to the company but he also can be bad because of his ego and what he did to WCW.  Hopefully, Hogan won't be the end of TNA, but maybe a new start for TNA.

Whereas once Hulk Hogan was a credit to the business, a man who changed the industry nationwide for the better and helped to prompt two boom periods for the sport, Hulk Hogan is now a pimple on the ass of professional wrestling.

A short term run for Hogan in TNA might actually be of value to the company. Long-term, he may well rape TNA as he raped WCW. And be assured, Hogan raped WCW. Hogan raped WCW anally, and he enjoyed it. The piece of trash.

Hogan is in TNA long term and has allegedly taken over Jarrett's share of the company because Dixie Carter was up late one night watching WrestleMania I and got to thinking, "Hogan in TNA...he can still go. The fans love him. He will make TNA!" Good grief, she really channeled the spirit of the Wasim in that one.

Note to Dixie Carter: On these forums over the past few weeks, I was the only one who defended you. I defended you even as you sent Jarrett home yet inexplicably kept Russo on the payroll because I honestly thought the youth initiative had some meaning. The signing of Desmond Wolf appeared to confirm that analysis. But when you not only hired Hogan, but sold company stock to him, it was akin to starting a puppy orphanage with the intent to raise little innocent puppies into rugged attack dogs one week---and then drowning the puppies in a tank of water the next week so that you can afford to feed a single petulant, demanding, aging 15-year old mutt that demands your constant attention. Don't forget that said 15-year old mutt will eat only the most expensive brand of Ken-L-Ration, will attack burglars only if they burgle on Sundays---and only when he can fit it in his busy schedule---and will piss and leave **** all over the floor if he's not catered to constantly.

What manner of stupidity is it that prompts idiot promoters to witness Hogan in person and immediately cave to his every demand like a house of cards??? Does Hogan have the magical ability to inflict brain lesions that throw the victim into a state of dementia, said dementia being characterized by bouts of passive suggestion in which the afflicted can be played like a puppet??? This surely is the only explanation for this turn of events. No sane and rational mind can witness the wake of Hogan's destruction and view him as a proponent of TNA's future success. Hulk Hogan, given the opportunity, will suck TNA dry. Anyone who publicly implies that the young talent has to be straightened out at the press conference to announce the signing is not responsible enough to be on the business end of a multi-million dollar company.

The first step of Hogan's complete takeover will involve him hiring a cast of c-grade nobodies from his past hoping to make one last payday. TNA, say hello to Brutus Beefcake, Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Brian Knobs. Such an action will not only crowd the mid-card full of fodder like a congested heart, it will serve the dual purpose of consuming company budget, lessening the risks of TNA signing some hot young star that will develop to threaten Hogan's status.

Which brings me to step two: using WCW as a guide for Hogan's actions and the motivations behind those actions, we can easily deduce that step two involves undermining young talent whom Hogan feels concerned over. The most obvious threats to Hogan's power in TNA are AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle and Desmond Wolf. It remains to see how this will all play out, but undeserved title reigns, jobbing (not by Hogan) and undeserved backstage admonishments seem to be the order of the day.

Dammit, just as I was starting to enjoy a wrestling world without that yellow and red imbecile's ego-driven blatherings, this happens. Hulk Hogan, WILL WE NEVER BE RID OF YOU?????????

Armageddon could be upon us, Hogan could be dead and buried for two centuries and I suspect the aging wonder could still tunnel up from the mantle of the world and find a new generation of idiots to enslave and manipulate.

In closing, I say this: I have always been outspoken against Hogan in the past, but in those days it was nothing personal. All my slander and insults were just a product of a defensive mechanism that has intelligent wrestling fans speaking out against bad trends. Now however...Hulk Hogan, I ****ing HATE YOU!!!!!Angry

EDIT: Assuming all this talk about Hogan having been handed half the company on a silver platter is utterly bogus and just one or two idiots idea of stirring up outrage, disregard this. As of yet, I have yet to see any solid evidence of this. Yet, it's so talked about, I'm starting to feel agonized, and needed to get this rant off my chest.

A blessing. Hogan is the household name that TNA has been missing but no longer is missing anymore because he is finally in TNA. Trust me TNA will be put on the map by Hogan just like Hogan did for WWE in the 80's.

He can do great things for TNA, but he can also do horrible things to it.

Will he be interested in just himself and not give a damn about the company?

Or, does he actually care about it and want to help it succeed?

We will just have to wait and see.
