This match ***** It may well be the greatest Wresltemania match in history. Two of the greats, battling greatly. I was surprised that Ric Flair, at his age, could put on such a show. It had everything: drama, pomp, hype, athletisism, suspense, intensity, and a heartbreaking endiing. Even though I pretty much knew Shawn Michaels was going to come out on top, the two worked the match so well there were times I had no idea which way it would go. Where do I begin? Flair kicks out of the superkick? Michaels' backflip onto an announce table that looked like it should have collapsed but didn't? Two submission battles with figure-four leg lock-like moves? Flair getting his top rope move? The great back and forth action between the two? The Heartbreak Kid's heartbreaking apology at match's end? This had all the drama of The Nature Boy's (and HBK's) classic matches, but still booked in such a way it was relevant to the contemporary fan.
My hat is off to you Nature Boy. You put on an incredible show. I give you a loud and booming WOOOOOOOO!!!! You'll be missed.

Gary, you are absolutely correct! I'm glad you typed all that so I didn't have to because I agree with every word of it. Only thing you forgot to mention was Flair's outstanding hanging vertical suplex he gave Shawn. Also, his beautiful exiting walk back to the locker room with everyone standing and cheering and wooing in respect, but that goes along with the emotional ending you mentioned. |

After watching this match, I would honestly be okay dying tomorrow. I felt such emotion at the end that I felt like I was right there with Flair's family. Such catharsis in my wrestling life. Gotta love Flair. |

I was totally sapped after the Flair match. I could have gone to bed right then and there. But somehow I went on and watched the rest of the ppv. That match should have been the main event because everything else was all flat afterwards. My dad told me that Flair was the greatest, and last night he proved it. |

This was, without a doubt, the pinnacle of Ric Flair's career. There is no one who would be able to perform at that level at that age. It was one of those great moments like Wayne Gretzky's last game or Michael Jordan's goodbye to the Chicago Bulls.
Ric Flair is the Pele of professional wrestling. His shadow will loom hard over the sport for decades to come. |

I am sad to see Flair lose, however, he couldn't have gone out in a greater style...this match was simply awesome! As an emotional woman, I cried like I was watching The Notebook when Shawn Michaels did his final superkick on Flair and said I'm sorry, I Love You... then Flair was down on the mat shedding tears, HBK pins him, then kisses and hugs him out of respect...I was devasted. My heart was ripped open, and I couldn't stop crying and clapping...what a match! Flair pulled out all of his old dirty tricks and unique skillful style...I hope to see him again!! Wooooooooo!
