Well, I wanted to write this blog earlier, but at least I'm finally getting to it. So here it goes.
Night of Champions was a really great show in my opinion. It had many entertaining matches and title changes, and the two main events were nothing short of awesome. Sure, Edge and Thiple H may have retained their respective championships, but both Batista and Cena truly busted their **** and showed tons of effort in trying to take back what they believe is theirs'. Matches are always much more fun to watch when you can genuinly see that the guys (or girls) in the match are genuinly working hard to please the fans and make the match great. Anyway, overall I thought NoC was a great show.
In other news, CM Punk finally wins a major championship! And by God does he deserve it! He has worked so hard to get to that point in his carreer, and I was absolutely overjoyed when he cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase and destroyed what was left of Edge. I know some may question Punk's decision, seeing as Edge was almost completely incompacitated by Batista when he cashed it in, but all Punk was doing was simply seizing the opportunity just like The Ultimate Opportunist himself. So as far as I'm concerned. I don't have a problem with it and Edge should have realized that when you're champion you have to remain on your toes 24/7 for any and all threats for the taking of your title, no matter what show you're on.
As far as SmackDown is concerned, last week I enjoyed it. Like I said before, I am much more motivated to sit on my ass for two hours on a Friday night now because of the calibour of Superstars that were drafted to SmackDown as well as Good 'Ol J.R. providing his legendary commentary as a truly refreshing voice for the show. One thing I have always enjoyed about SmackDown is the quality of matches it often offers. Raw (and ECW as far as I can tell) are mostly geared toward pushing storylines and usually contain more skits and 'entertainment'-related material, and SmackDown, although it does this as well, usually allows more time for the matches on the show to progress and be worth watching. WWE is the only professional wrestling entity I am involved with now, so I pretty much consider SmackDown to be my "wrestling show".
Anyway, I guess that's about all I got to say about WWE right now. Oh yeah, and there is Mr. McMahon's 'accident' to attest to I suppose. Well, all I can say about that is, best wishes Vince! I do hope you get better, if you are actually hurt, that is. Sometimes it's kind of hard to tell, you know, considering you faked your own death last year and everything.
Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to going on that WWE spending binge and purchase all of those new Superstar DVD sets I've been wanting for so long. I will feel much better once I do that.
