WWE in Toronto (How to make it awesome)

Thursday, December 4, 2008, 06:57 PM EST [Autographs & more]

Ok Canadian fans and thoughts in the Toronto area.

Now there has been a suggestion on the WWE site, the commercials and what not as to the fans to bring non parishable food items to the autograph session on December 21. I think it's a great idea, but here's how to make it better.

A wristband policy is in effect for this.

Why not change the rules a little. You can only get a wrist band if you DONATE to the food drive?

I mean how hard could it be for some of us to go out and get a can of soup? Or a jar of penut butter? I think that would be fair, food for an autograph.

Imagine how much dontations they could get out of this? Especially for the holidays! So many families could be helped.

As well for the supershow, think of this. The air Canada Centre holds over 20,000 people... imagine if everyone brought one food item? How many families do you think that will feed? Imagine if they brought 2!

40,000 cans and other food items for people in need!

I want to think of it this way, if I were in the shoes of people in need. I would certainly wish someone would help.

This is hitting close to home, for my dad mentioned a woman outside of our local grocery store begging people to help her. She needed food for her children.

Just today, he just dropped clothing off today at a donation bin, and she was there sifting through the bags he brought.

    Imagine if that was you...

So, I think it would be well worth it for us in the WWE Universe to donate a can of food in order to get a wrist band for an autograph. Sounds reasonable, doesn't it?

Never try to outsmart a security guard...

Thursday, April 24, 2008, 04:51 PM EST [Autographs & more]

Ok for anyone reading my blogs... I doubt there is many of you. I write to offer simple advice when it comes to WWE autograph sessions. I recall one rainy day in Toronto, I was outside with my brother for John Cena. It thundered, a bit of lighting but then clearned... we lucked out!

Anyway, as we were waiting in line a person behind us was getting rather impaciant, she had been in the line all day. She wasn't going to see John Cena, she was holding the spot in line for her nephew and son... problem was, it was wristband policy.

For those who have not heard of this concept, this is what it's about, as of late for autographs in Toronto you are given a wristband. If you have one and there is a number on it. You are garanteed an autograph (most of the time, I haven't had an issue yet with it) Yet if you do not, you are asked to leave the line.

This is where our story take a turn for the worst. I am all in for helping out young wrestling fans, however the young boys of this story don't seem to get a happy ending. It started when the line began to move and the woman who was waiting in line found someone's wristband on the ground. It had been torn off and left to linger (one from someone who already met John Cena)

So she thought she would put it on her nephew and no one would know the wiser. Worried that something bad was going to happen to this kid I warned the woman it wasn't a good idea. Why? All wristbands were numbered!

"Oh no problem" she said, She walked out of the line, went to the closest conveniate store and bought a marker. She wrote the next number on the tattered wristband and put it on her nephew.

Security had come by often to check the numbers on your wristbands. I warned this lady ahead of time and she insisted to me, no one was going to check... this is where a bit of Karma and Murphy's law takes effect.

Just as we were getting closer, the two boys could hardly contain their excitment as they were about to see John Cena... when security went by. They were checking numbers AND the wristband! As soon as they got to the woman who told the boys to show their number did the security guard smell something fishy, for the person behind the kids had the same number, the person behind them did not have a ripped wristband. Their were, and to add on to this, the woman who waited, tore her off to give to her son...

"You must leave the line up" he ordered them. It came to a war of words. The woman who had waited all day blew a gasket and told him they were ligit wristbands. However since she tried to make a second one for her newphew... BOTH were pulled from the line!

Sad but true, I just pass this along to any wrestling fan who may have a young child and think of this idea, and assume no one will notice. Just keep this story in mind.

SO what can you do to ensure a spot in the lineup? Here are my suggestions.

    1. Get there early! I cannot express this enough, when I went to a Kane autogrpah session I was there at 9 in the morning! I was number 87! Get there early and prepare to wait.

    2. bring a friend! Or a brother... I bring a brother personally, but if you have a wrestling fan that's a friend or older sibling, all the more better. Or if you just bring someone and make it worth their while later, I do that with my older brother. I usually treat him to lunch.

    3. Perpare to wait! Oh man there's a lot of waiting. I waited outside for 2 hours in the rain for Kane! Yeah... I'm a 'keener' if you call it that... or just plain weird. But we were told to wait outside, so what choice do you have?

    4. alliances maybe nessassary- If there are no wristbands, sometimes alliances between fellow fans would be nessassary. I have done that once, it was well worth it due to the fact there were no wristbands and only limited people would be getting signatures. Not to mention you make good friends in line ups when you are all after the same thing!

Well that's all for now, I hope this advice is useful to anyone seeking it, always be safe and have fun at the autograph session!

    Wrestlers and fans...

Monday, April 21, 2008, 10:41 PM EST [General]

You know there's a strange relationship between the two, there are fans who enjoy the wrestlers when they appear and are pleased if they happen to luck out on getting an autographs when there wasn't an autograph session to be had... or there are those who exspect if they have waited in line for hours... they are entitled to one. I've seen both.

On a hot summer's day roughtly just over a year ago, I was in Toronto with my older brother, I was hoping to get some signatures for a contest at my workplace. I have passionate WWE fans at my movie theatre (yes we show the PPVs on the big screen!) and I wanted to make something special. Armed with a WWE Wrestlemaina DVD I went out and waited in a line up in hopes of getting a signature or two.

I wasn't alone in this line up. For nearly seven hours I stood... yeah... I'm that dedicated... I guess we can call it dedication! Anywho, as I waited, there was a woman beside me who was very impaciant. She looked to her watched and was awaiting to get some autographs muttering something about they better be signing, she had three boys with her and waited in the line. However as each wrestler passed, she couldn't seem to get a signature. Yet the moment Edge walked by, he didn't even look at the crowd and went right on into the building that was hosting a press conferance.

She yells to the top of her lungs. "OH YOU THINK YOU'RE GOD'S GIFT DON'T YOU!" Shocking the likes of me, and a kid beside me! This woman took hold of her children and left in a huff, I was about to tell her to wait, but my older brother was against it.

As the press conferance ended, some of the wrestlers spent time signing as many autographs as they could. I happened to have snagged Shane McMahon and Torrie Wilsons, yet Ric Flair aluded me... it wasn't his fault, he was told to keep moving and yet managed to duck out of the security escort to sign a few items along the way.

Then came Edge... the self adsorbed, jerk... right?

Many people were wondering why it was taking him so long to come down the 'red carpet' they happened to rolled out for the event. Edge went AROUND the baracade, armed with a sharpie and signed like there was no tomorrow! I got Edge's signature, he spent twenty minutes at least giving autographs to those who waited for one!

Let this be a lesson to everyone. Never make assumptions about someone. I'm sure if that lady stayed her kids would have gotten an autograph... but. I guess one will never know.

tune in next time fokes when I explain why you should NEVER try and make your own wristband for an autograph session, no matter how desperate you are!

    Welcome!

Monday, April 21, 2008, 08:26 PM EST [General]

Ok... a blog.... blog... uh.... hi... welcome to my page if you bothered to look, not saying you have to but thanks for looking.

I'm the fictatious girl... why? I write a lot... when I mean a lot I mean it! I got nearly 65 stories up on fanfiction.net! Yeah, oh that's not including the NON- WWE stories I have in the works too! Yes I do write about other things than wrestlers. Mainly vampires... I am a vampire sort of girl... and dragons... LOTS of dragons... I never understand why those creatures always have to be the "bad guys" *shrugs* it seems so one sided if you asked me... oh... rambling, sorry.

Well I'm also a fan for the fans. I run contests at my workplace where if I can get more than one autograph I usually give the other away as a prize to fans who can't get to autograph sessions or cannot afford to go to a live show. Recently I gave way an autograph Chris Jericho book, I raised some money for sick kids hospital while I did that... Good time, good times.

Last time I did a contest like that, I raised, food, clothing and money for the local woman's shelter!

Oh you will have to prardon my spelling and grammar, I am not really... good in that area. So if you don't mind, super!

Well that's all about me for now... I think... at least, so yeah, see you on the forms!
