Hello everyone! I'm here again to share my opinions on tonight's ECW show. But before I get to that, I just want to ask if anyone else has heard what happened to Elijah Burke? I read somewhere that he was hit by a car while jogging. If this is true, I'd just like to say that I wish him a speedy recovery! He is a true athlete and I hope this doesn't take away his ability to wrestle!
First off, the new ECW play-by-play commentator is Todd Grisham. I think he is a pretty good replacement for Mike Adamle. One of the main reasons that I think he is a good choice is because he's a familiar voice. He knows the wrestlers names and actually knows what he is talking about. Like I said in a previous blog, I'm not bashing Adamle. I liked him for his effort. It's just good to have a man who's been in the company calling the matches.
Matt Hardy gets interrupted by the World's Strongest Man, Mark Henry and Tony Atlas. I thought we could have done without this segment. Watching Mark Henry bend stuff is getting kinda old. We already know he is the World's Strongest man, he doesn't have to keep coming to the ring to bend things. I did think it was funny when Matt said, "Hey Tony, at SummerSlam, we're not having a bar-bending contest. We're having a wrestling match." haha Cute, Matt.
I'm getting really annoyed at seeing The Miz and John Morrison wrestle Finlay and Hornswoggle. It's like, week after week they continue to wrestle each other. I think it is mainly because they don't really have many tag teams left. But, I'd still like to see them fight other people every now and then. I love seeing The Miz and John Morrison in action! They are a great tag team! After the match, Mike Knox came in to attack Finlay. Hopefully, they'll start a feud between Knox and Finlay and stop putting Hornswoggle and Finlay in matches with Miz and Morrison.
Next we have the newcomer, Ricky Ortiz vs Chavo Guerrero. I'm just not feeling this Ortiz guy. I can't tell if he's a good wrestler or not...I keep getting distracted by his hair! I am not a fan of big hair. Now calm down, it's MY opinion. If you like it, then that is fine. I personally don't like it. It's just so big. Anyway, back to the match. Bam attacks Ortiz after he costs Chavo the match by getting caught trying to hold Chavo's legs on the ropes. I liked Tazz's comment, "I think Bam just got caught with his hand in the cookie jar!" haha Bam Neely is a pretty powerful dude! Then when it looks like Bam and Chavo are gonna really hurt Ortiz, one of my new favorite Superstars...EVAN BOURNE comes to the rescue delivering some nice dropkicks to both Chavo and Bam before flying out of the ring to avoid Bam! I freakin' love this guy! I was a little bummed he wasn't scheduled for a match tonight though! Oh well. I think a good match in the near future should be Chavo Guerrero and Bam Neely vs Evan Bourne and Ricky Ortiz! That'd be pretty awesome to see! By the way, as a little side note...I really love Evan's theme music!
Last match of the night was Matt Hardy vs Colin Delaney. Something I forgot to mention earlier...it really bugged me when Tony said to Matt that since both he (Matt) and Mark were drafted to ECW, Mark has won the ECW title and Matt has done nothing except lose the United States Championship! Grrr....Matt Hardy is amazing! He WILL win the ECW Championship at SummerSlam!!! Anyway, where was I...oh yeah, Colin vs Matt. It's kinda obvious who was gonna win this! MATT HARDY!!! Poor Colin, though! I wouldn't be surprised if he really broke his arm after being thrown out of the ring by Mark Henry! Then they had to keep replaying it. Ugh, it was making me queasy!
Closing thoughts....
MATT HARDY FOR ECW CHAMP!!! Hardy, Hardy, HARDY!!!
So...yeah, I didn't expect MIKE ADAMLE to be named the new General Manager of RAW! Yes...Mike Adamle. You didn't read wrong! I'll get to this later. Remember, I skip around so, forgive me if I forget to mention a few things. Let's go through tonight's show, shall we...
I was pumped to see Jerry "The King" Lawler and Hacksaw Jim Duggan wrestle Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase for the World Tag Team Titles. Then the new GM (still unknown to us who it is) decides to make put Michael Cole in the match instead of Jim Duggan. Well, it was obvious what was gonna happen here. Lawler gets thrown out and Michael gets beat up not to return to finish the show. So, they bring in Mike Adamle to replace Michael Cole for the night. I still don't know why they brought in Jim Ross later in the show?
Poor Jamie Noble. He can't win a match. I guess they have to keep putting him with a Diva for people to still care about him. I still like Jamie...without a Diva. I think he is really good and shouldn't be used as a jobber. Blah! I laughed at how Noble says Kofi's name. "Coffee Kingston" haha What a hoot, that Jamie Noble!
So, are Beth and Santino a couple? What's going on here? I love Santino's character. He is extremely funny!
William Regal has returned from his 60 day suspension. He fought CM Punk. This match was very blah to me. It was boring. I got a little nervous when Regal did some kind of move (not sure what it's called) on Punk and Punk almost landed on his head. Punk ended up with a nice bloody nose by the end of the match after Regal kicked him in the head. I just have one last thing to say about Regal...does his hair bother anyone else as much as it bothers me?
Nice to see Jillian again. I usually like to watch her wrestle (as long as she doesn't sing, hehe) but her match tonight with Women's Champ, Mickie James wasn't all that good. I didn't think Mickie was all that good either. They didn't seem too into it! Before and after the match, Mickie snuck in a couple of hugs from her father who was in the crowd. At the end of the match, when she went to hug her dad, Katie Lea attacked Mickie, throwing her into the ring post. That looked like it hurt! I like Katie Lea. I can definitely see her as a future Women's Champion. She makes a very good heel character.
The Last "Highlight Reel"!? BooHoo! The video that Jericho shows of himself back in the day is how I wish he still was. I didn't realize how much making fun of Stephanie McMahon was a big part of his past. It was hilarious! I miss that Y2J! He can still be a heel, just a funny one. hehe Now, Jericho just sounds like a whinny little baby, complaining about how he should be as famous and loved as Shawn Michaels. But I guess they gotta keep this feud going some how.
Now, back to Adamle being RAW's new GM...does this mean he is no longer going to be commentator for ECW. And if not, who is going to replace him? Maybe he'll be a heel GM? I think it was a good idea to make him GM. One, because people already hate him and two, because we won't hear that much of him. Actually, I was just talking to my sister at the beginning of the show about Adamle and how I was starting to like him. Mainly because he is trying. I like him for his effort. I guess there was just too many complaints about him as a commentator. Oh well. Maybe he'll still be ECW commentator. Who knows. We'll find out tomorrow. By the way, they still didn't explain why Jim Ross was there? Or did I miss it?
Tonight's Smackdown...I was a little upset at how it started. MVP
having Jeff Hardy as his guest, I knew they wouldn't just sit around
talking nicely to each other. I knew that they would argue about
something but I thought it was a little tasteless, on WWE's part, to
have MVP talk about Jeff's house burning down and especially his dog,
Jack who died in the fire. When MVP was walking out and it showed Jeff,
you could see he was upset! I was glad that Jeff apologized for what he
did and that he won't do it again. Let's just hope that he sticks to
that plan!
Good to see Stevie Richards! But against Vladimir Koslov? It was
obvious who was gonna win this! I can't wait to see who the first person
is to bring that man down! Stevie put up a good fight! I wish they
would use Stevie more.
Michelle McCool's first night as Divas Champion and they have her
wrestle Maryse? For crying out loud, Maryse is so clumsy, I'm surprised
she can make it to the ring without falling down the entrance ramp. Has
anyone noticed how clumsy she is? It drives me crazy! Nice win for
McCool!
Brian Kendrick...oh, what can I say about this guy? His new gimmick
is ridiculous! Did I actually hear them compare him to Brian Pillman?
Kendrick walks like he is drunk. I don't like his new gimmick at all.
Shannon Moore actually got to wrestle tonight! Even if he did lose to
Brian. Shannon is a great wrestler. I wish they would stop using that
poor guy as a jobber!
Khali won the Battle Royal to fight Triple H at SummerSlam! Ugh! Are
you kidding me? He's been gone for-freaking-ever and they have him
win!? Jeff Hardy should have won! He deserves it! I guess they are
gonna end up putting Jeff in a feud with MVP.
The best thing of the night would have to be Vickie telling her
"sweetheart", Edge that she has reinstated The Undertaker! WAHOO! Not only
that but she put Edge against The Undertaker at SummerSlam in a Hell in
a Cell match! AWESOME!!!
Well, tonight was a pretty good show. Looking forward to seeing SummerSlam and see what Undertaker is gonna do to Edge!
I was excited to see Raw last night because I thought there was
going to be a new surprise General Manager after 3 weeks of Shane and
Stephanie McMahon encouraging the WWE Superstars and staff to, what was
it...."come together and unite as one". Yeah right! Like that was going
to happen!
Now, I'm just gonna skip around and mention a few
things about last night's show. First, I want to talk about Hacksaw Jim
Duggan. I used to not care to see him. But then last week, when the
arrogant Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase had to come out and tell Jim
Duggan to grow up and get out of a young man's sport...it made me so
mad. I mean did you see the look on poor Duggan's face? He was crushed!
Then this week, Duggan comes out to say that after 30 years, he's
decided to "hang up the boots". Thank goodness for Jerry Lawler, right?
Lawler tells Jim Duggan that if you are passionate about something, let
nothing stand in your way. Way to go Lawler! Lawler then goes on to say
that Duggan's presence alone still has the ability to make millions of
people stand and chant "U-S-A!!!" That gave me chills! Now, if you didn't think that Rhodes
and DiBiase were not going to come down and ruin this touching moment,
then you don't know the nerve of these guys. I would love to see a
match between Duggan and Lawler vs DiBiase and Rhodes (juniors of
course, hehe)
Nice intergender match with Intercontinental
Champion, Kofi Kingston teaming up with Women's Champ, Mickie James to
take on "siblings" Katie Lea and Paul Burchill. Any match with Kofi
Kingston is good, so I already loved this match since it already
included both Kingston and one of my favorite Divas, Mickie James!
Mickie James was serving some serious knees to Katie Lea in the beginning
wasn't she? This woman ain't playing around! :)
The return of D-Lo Brown? Not sure I really
care, though. I knew when his entrance music came on, that it sounded
familiar but not recent. hehe It was interesting to see him answer
Santino's challenge to the Raw roster, though. I bet Santino didn't
expect D-Lo! Speaking of Santino not expecting things, I bet he didn't
expect that kiss with The Glamazon, Beth Phoenix! I must say, I was
surprised! I can tell both Santino and Phoenix were, as well.
Can't
wait to see ECW tonight! Hope to get an explanation from Colin Delaney
on why he turned on Dreamer at the Great American Bash!
I want to talk a little bit about the Divas. First off, I would like to say that I am extremely happy that Michelle McCool won the Divas Title at The Great American Bash. I'm a little confused at why nobody here on Fan Nation is happy about that? Why does everyone seem to be sooo angry that she beat Natalya? It's not like Natalya won't ever get another shot at it.
Anyway, I still think the Divas title is hideous! I wish it looked more important, not something you'd see in a Barbie doll commercial. I wanna know who thought it was a good idea to make it look like that. Now if it was a bunch of 6 year olds fighting for it then I'd say "oh yeah that is a cute belt" but these are tough women fighting, giving there all for a belt that isn't very attractive. No, scratch that. It looks good...just not for professional wrestling.
I wish there were more good divas on Smackdown. I think the only one that are good enough to even get the belt are Michelle, Victoria and Natalya. I guess I could MAYBE (strong maybe) see Maria with it. The only two left are Cherry and Maryse. I think Cherry needs a new gimmick and stop looking so scared and surprised when she does a good move. Then there is Maryse. Has anyone but me seen how clumsy this girl is? My goodness, everytime she does something, she stumbles or falls over. I laugh every time!
Now on the Raw Divas. I cannot wait to see Candice Michelle return. She was really starting to look like she belongs in the world of pro wrestling. Then Melina gets injured. Man, what is happening! I was excited to see that it looked as if she was making a face turn! Now to Melina's old friend Jillian. I wish there was more of Jillian. She is actually a talented wrestler. Now if she would just not SING! It's like nails on a chalk board. Eeek!
