    Repost of my RANT!

    I tried to post this blog yesterday but for some reason, it didn't work. So, I'm gonna try to remember what I wrote about yesterday. My rant was on the Diva Search. I was looking on this wrestling website and there was something about the Diva Search and how there may not be another one. I will be glad if there isn't. People didn't seem to care much about the last one. I don't like the Diva Search.

    The first thing I want to mention is I am sure that I am going to make a few mistakes or forget to mention someone in this rant. So, obviously just tell me in the comments.  To start off, I want to make this very clear: I am not against all the current Divas who have previously been in a Diva Search. I don't dislike these women in any way. I am simply asking why some of them wanted to be in this particular business. I just want to understand why out of all of the winners of the Diva Searches, they are either gone or in unimportant roles. Why bring in these women who can't wrestle and they don't even put in the effort. There place on the roster could be filled with women who CAN wrestle and haven't been given the chance. The Diva Search was obviously for the "eye candy" Divas.

    Let's look at the 2004 Diva Search. The winner was Christy Hemme. I don't remember much about her time in the WWE but if you look at her ability as a wrestler in TNA, it's clear that she isn't all that good. She wasn't even there that long. She was there, what...about a year? Oh and why have a competition, if the winner isn't the only one that gets a contract? Maria and Michelle McCool were also in the 2004 Diva Search. I'm not 100% sure but I think Candice Michelle was also in that year. I mean, I am glad that they are all in the WWE but they didn't win? What is the point of trying to be the 1st place winner if you aren't going to be the only one getting a contract.

    The winner of the 2005 Diva Search was Ashley Massaro. I don't think she had any talent as a wrestler. I wasn't upset when she left. Kristal Marshall was also in the 2005 Diva Search and I don't think she was ever really that popular. I don't even remember if she ever wrestled that much so why was she even given a contract?

    Layla was the winner of the 2006 Diva Search. Her role isn't all that small but it isn't so great either. She doesn't wrestle that much and when she does, it isn't all that impressive at all.  Maryse was 7th place in this Diva Search. I used to not like her but she is getting a lot better. So, there is a good sign. hehe

    Last year's Diva Search winner was Eve Torres. Recently she asked Vickie Guerrero if she could have a match soon. I hope she is a good wrestler. She's pretty good as a backstage interviewer. Lena Yada was in 3rd place and is the WWE. We hardly EVER see her. The newest Diva Search person is Teddy Long's assistant, Tiffany. She was in 4th place. I hope she is training to wrestle. If not and she is only Teddy's assistant, then that is pointless. I mean, why exactly is she there?

    Well, I guess they never said that the winner would be the only one to get a contract but still I had to ask all of these questions. I just wish there were more actual good women wrestlers in the WWE.  I really think it would be a good idea for WWE to take a few pointers from TNA. I don't think the Knockouts are better than the Divas but I think the Knockouts are given more airtime and matches for the fans to care about them. It's almost like the WWE is starting to not care. I think the Divas could be the biggest thing going for the WWE but they aren't giving them the chance. Now these Diva Searches bringing in women, who aren't all that good, taking up space. There are exceptions though. Like Michelle McCool and Candice Michelle. I think they have both worked really hard to prove that they can be beautiful but can also kick some butt in the ring. I just hope Eve Torres is going to follow in their footsteps.

    So, I am sure I am going to have people behind me on this and others that aren't going to be happy that I dissed their favorite Diva. I just want to put my thoughts out there mainly because I want to see who else is with me on this. I know there is a lot of stuff that I am going to wish I had said but forgot to mention now. But for now, I am going to leave it here.

    yaaaaaa hummmmm let me seeee so your saying that diva seach sould stop u must be out of ur mind cause on monday night raw we almost see batista,rey rey,kane,and the girl santina,y2j,c.m punk,john cena and more but i bet the best part is the divas macthes and if we keep seeing the same divas we will get bored of them so thats why they souldn't stop diva searching damn i never type this long lol laterz

    I am totally with you on this. The Diva Search was never a good concept in my opinion. The amount of people that are in the WWE from the diva search are numerous when the spots could be better filled by actual women's wrestlers. I also don't understand why they signed many of the women that were in the search when they didn't win. I get that it was a fan vote but, WWE signed an average of about 5 of those women every search. WWE does need to showcase the divas like TNA does the Knockouts.The women can carry the show if you let them. I think you raised some excellent points here and created a awesome blog!!!

    I agree with you Fefe, My thinking with Eve is what i've always said about the Diva's Search Winners. They need to train them 1st before they put them in any big roll on TV. And I believe they have done that with Eve. OK she has done some backstage interviews but that leaves the rest of the time to train. The only obligation she has had is that small part plus that way we don't forget her!!! And the rest for the Exception of Cristy Hemmy have shown some hart and soul and love for this Business and really do try!!!! Great blog Fefe!!!

    I've always been torn on the Diva Search. On one hand, hey, look at all the hot ladies. I enjoy that. But on the other hand... wait, I'm not torn at all. I like the Diva Search. Never had a problem with it and I think it's reaped some rewards, although not necessarily from the winners.



    The Diva Search always suffered from crossed signals regarding its purpose. Depending on who in WWE was doing the hyping, the Diva Search was supposed to bring in hot women who could be personalities in WWE and titilate the male audience on one hand. Mission generally accomplished there. On the other hand, it's been stated that the Diva Search was designed to find another Trish Stratus. WWE figured if it scoured the modeling agencies, they'd find a second instance of lightning in a bottle and score another Trish, a model who had the athletic background and desire and ability to be a wrestler. (Trish's intelligence and savvy for the business is harder to duplicate.)



    And actually in 2004, it looked like they had a real winner. Christy Hemme had a lot of potential. If you go back and watch her final WWE matches against Melina before she was released, she was markedly improving. But then she was released, under rather mysterious circumstances (rumors still abound and I've heard my share, one from someone supposedly in the know) that we may never get the whole story on. Since then Christy has amounted to less in TNA than she was on her way to being in WWE.



    Ashley, well, that book's closed.



    Layla I've never warmed to and still don't care for. Lena Yada is the forgotten woman. But you know, no one is entirely useless. It's always about "how well can they wrestle?" If someone found a good storyline for Lena that utilizes whatever her talents we haven't seen yet are, people would sing a different tune. Layla has that very angle with William Regal and Jamie Noble as we speak.



    Eve, I dig. I don't even want Eve to wrestle, personally. Like Maria, her body type isn't really built to take bumps. I'd rather Eve became the new (hotter) Mean Gene Okerlund. She's got an aptitude for backstage interviews and great facial expressions.



    The Diva Search gave us Maria, who I think had a phenomenal character when she was the dumb backstage interviewer. Her Santino storyline was brilliant, the best storyline any Diva had since Trish and Mickie were frenemies. (Beth vs. Melina was the best since then.) If anything, Maria now that's she's intelligent is directionless and has no storylines. If they found another good one for her, she'd probably be the most entertaining female personality in WWE. But she also wants to wrestle. Bless her heart, she works hard. So I cut her a lot of slack.



    Michelle (grr) and Candice are probably the results of that "next Trish Stratus" mission statement. In the ring, they're better than anyone could have expected they'd be when they were hired. Yes, Candice got hurt twice. So what? Accidents happen. It's a physical business. There's also Maryse, who could toss her hair all day long and I'll give her a standing ovation each time.



    So really the Diva Search has reaped its dividends. Time has wrung out the also-rans and the ones who are fit for WWE in whatever way still remain. I personally don't care if we never have another one, but I also wouldn't mind another Diva Search if it came back. To paraphrase Forrest Gump, the Diva Search is like a box of chocolates. You never know who you're gonna get.

    You know, I'm all for finding new female wrestlers. I think women can wrestle just as well as the guys can. And some of the women (rare, but there) can even take on the guys and legitimately win. And I'm not just talking about women body builders in the same vein as Chyna.



    I think Beth Phoenix is probably one of the best female wrestlers in the WWE, along with Natalya. I would love to see more of them actually getting to wrestle real matches.



    I think the Diva pillow fights, water fights, bikini contests, and dance offs are annoying and a joke. If we have to watch that, then how about the guys doing something similar? hmmm?



    I definitely think that TNA showcases the Knockouts much better than the WWE does the Divas. Yes, TNA also has some of the bikini model wannabes, but a lot more of their females actually appear to be able to hold their own in the ring. Not just flipping hair, or posing, but actually grappling and doing some high flying moves.



    I will admit, that while I watch WWE for the wrestlers and the storylines, I watch TNA a lot more for the female wrestlers than for much else.



    I would really like to see the WWE get more serious about their females. Keep the storylines, because those are fun, but actually get women who can manage this extremely physical job without breaking.



    What can I say? I didn't look like any of the Divas when I was in high school, but I wrestled on our school wrestling team. I looked far more like Awesome Kong. :D
