Well, I can honestly say that tonight's Smackdown was the most entertaining I've seen in a long time! Starting off with Jeff Hardy making his way down to the ring is always a good way to start the show! I just love Jeff Hardy!
Anyway...Jeff Hardy is down to watch the match between MVP and Jimmy Wang Yang! Jimmy is so entertaining. Lately though, after his return from his suspension, he's been used mostly as a jobber. I guess he has to work his way back again. I hope that doesn't last long though, because he has too much talent to be wasted by being a jobber. After MVP won, Jeff came into the ring saying that if MVP ever mentioned the fire, his home or his dog again, he was going to show MVP what kind of man he really is, before delivering a Twist of Fate!
Next up was Mrrrrrrrr. Kennedddddddyyyyyyy!....Kennedy! vs U.S. Champ, Shelton Benjamin in a non-title match. Kennedy made me laugh with those multiple "KENNEDY!" outburts that he kept throwing at Benjamin. Pretty entertaining match. Kennedy wins with the "Mic Check". I don't care what anybody on here says...I really like that move! After the match, Eve tries to get a quick word from Shelton Benjamin about the match. Benjamin says he is "The Gold Standard", so he doesn't make excuses but says he shouldn't have even wrestled tonight because of a slight case of Bronchitis. Yeah, I thought he didn't "make excuses"?
The Brian Kendrick was next to wrestle Stevie Richards. Did you hear that crowd when Kendrick came out. Man, they don't like him! haha! I do have to say that he is good on the mic, though. I also can't deny that Brian has real talent. I've always been a fan of his but this new gimmick is really turing me away from him. I hate that jacket! Ugh! There was one point in the match where I thought Stevie might actually win. Guess not.
Khali vs Jeff Hardy. I never thought I'd say that a match with Jeff Hardy was boring. It's all Khali though. That's what he does... no matter how amazing and talented his opponent is, the match sucks. He brings in down. To me, Khali has no talent. Maybe next week, Jeff Hardy will get to wrestle someone with talent. I thought Hardy had it won with a Whisper in the Wind followed by a Swanton but then MVP had to come down and mess things up!
Another R-Truth promo. Can't wait for him to debut! Another North Carolina guy!!! A lot of great wrestlers come from North Carolina...The Hardyz, Gregory Helms, Shannon Moore, Ron Killings, and of course Ric Flair!
Maria finally debuted on Smackdown tonight against Victoria. Good to see Victoria! I feel like I haven't seen her in a long time! She is one of my favorite Divas. Victoria comes out wearing a shirt showing her own car shop, "Black Widow Customs". Cute! Maria wins the match. I wish Victoria won, but it was still an entertaining match.
Big Show vs Domino. I personally liked and miss the tag team of Deuce and Domino. But oh well. It was funny, during the match, when Domino took of his shirt and threw it at Big Show, Jim Ross said "The old t-shirt in the face routine". I don't know why but I find that really funny. I'm giggling now as I type this. hehehe Umaga comes out after Big Show beats Domino. I actually forgot about Umaga. I didn't even know he was still in the WWE. I guess him coming out to "size up" the Big Show was a hint at a future feud between the two?
RANDOM NOTE: I wish WWE.com was still doing "Superstar Ink". Anyone know why they haven't done it in a while?
Now the thing I was really looking forward to seeing..."The Cutting Edge". Edge comes out to say that his guest is someone that knows the Undertaker more than anyone. I was thinking someone like Kane or Paul Bearer, even but Edge jumps out of the ring over to the announce table to reveal his mystery guest is Mick Foley. Edge mentions The Undertaker and Mick Foley's past in a Hell in a Cell match and wants Mick's help. Edge says he put together a little video to remind us of Undertaker and Foley's past. We then had a trip down memory lane with an "Attitude Era" flashback. Also we see clips of Taker and Foley's infamous Hell in a Cell match. I can't believe that match was 10 years ago!!! Wow, how time flies! After the video Mick says that he will not and cannot help Edge, saying that the only one that can help Edge is Edge himself. Mick then goes on to say that if Edge brings to SummerSlam the "Edge" that we have seen lately, the one that takes shortcuts, the Edge that relies on his wife, the one that begs on his knees...then the Undertaker is going to destroy him! Mick said he needs to bring the Edge that he used to call "the greatest wrestler in the WWE". Mick said it all! It's about time someone said this to Edge. During all of this, Edge was on the verge of tears. As usual, Mick Foley gives an AMAZING speech. I had mad chills up and down my arms! Then asks Edge "Do you understand". After a few seconds, Edge says "yeah I understand" and hits Mick with the microphone. They fight to the outside where Mick gives a quick "BANG! BANG" gesture to the fans. Skipping to the end, Edge climbs the ladder to drop with a chair onto Mick. Pretty entertaining way to end Smackdown if you ask me.
Final words: Will we see a different Edge? The old Edge?

What a great Smackdown. I was probably the best episode since the draft happened. I didn't even notice Triple H wasn't there. Every segment had a purpose and the matches were good. The Kennedy vs. Shelton match was technically sound and hard hitting at the same time. Surprised Kennedy got the win, but Shelton was hilarious "not making excuses." Give him a break, he had acute bronchitis. Eve should have been freaked out standing so close to him. He could have been contagious. Jeff Hardy showed some real fire in both segments and his match with Khali was better than it looked on paper. In hitting Whisper in the Wind and the Swanton it showed Jeff COULD have beaten MVP so they made him look strong even in defeat. The look MVP gave the fallen Jeff was cold. The Brian Kendrick is such a swaggering little tool, I love it. JR called it when he said we're seeing something "evolving" with Kendrick. A star is being made before our eyes. Two stars, actually, because Ezekiel has a lot of potential. (The Giant SR in the gold Star Wars font on Stevie Richards' ass was blinding though.) Great to finally see Maria after more than a month off of TV. Finally, Edge and Mick Foley had a promo for the ages. Mick has always been in a class by himself in promos and it was great to see him shift from cuddly Mick Foley to the old Cactus Jack for a few moments. It's great to see Edge away from Vickie and showing some of that Rated R attitude that made him the hottest heel in WWE in the first place. Just a tremendous show all around.
