Happy Friday everyone! Hope you all have a great weekend whether you made plans or not. Sometimes life is better on the fly. Speaking of fly, the one hour of ECW Tuesday night flew by. Before I knew it, it was over. But I just had to blog on it as I found several things interesting.
General Manager Tiffany cracked the whip as she ordered William "Don't call me Bill" Regal to wrestle The Hurricane. She stated that he was not to get another shot at the ECW Championship in fairness to others who wish to pursue the dream. Regal, unprepared and clearly in the wrong attire, was outraged but had no choice. Willy made The Hurricane eventually die out and got the win. The Hurricane made a valiant effort to rid the people of Regal's nasty ways but failed. Worse yet, Paul Burchill can't let the grudge go and clobbered the already fallen superhero. Maybe The Hurricane needs to call in some back up? Watch the skies.
The Bella Twins guest announced the Yoshi Tatsu/Zack Ryder match. Observation 1: I loved the green on Yoshi. Observation 2: This match had nice back and forth action and Zack Ryder made several frustrating attempts to pin Tatsu. But in the end it was the man from the Land of the Rising Sun who blind-sided Ryder for the victory.
Another really great move by Tiffany was the Battle Royal to be the #1 Contender for the ECW Championship or Champion "chip" as so many of us say. We had Benjamin, Kozlov, Jackson, Dreamer, Goldust, Reks, Shemaus, Burchill, Ryder, and Tutsu all vying for the chance to face Christian for the highly regarded title. Goldust held his own in the ring against some pretty heavy hitters and had a fairly decent fan base as well. Go Dust! There was an interesting moment of uncertainty between Kozlov and Jackson but that's all it was; just a moment. In the end, it was Zack Ryder who clung on (literally) for dear life to eek out the win over Tommy Dreamer, who did a nice job staying in there, and Kozlov. You know, I do wonder though how Regal would've reacted if Kozlov won.
Well, I must make a list of things to do and ignore every single thing on it.

Teddy Long made headlines. Batista had an announcement. Trish Stratus hosted RAW. It was like licking off the sticky leftover cotton candy from your fingers that you buy at a fair; mmm mmm good! Tsk tsk Teddy Long. Oh my friend, what a fine and scintillating scandal we've got ourselves into.Mr. McMahon should be pleased with your performance. However, there are quite a few people who have now targeted you for a good bruisin' playa. What are we to do?
Next, Batista, looking good and healthy, came back to make an announcement. Although that announcement was that he would now be heading to SmackDown and that he wasn't, in fact, retiring, it still didn't stop Randy Orton from cutting TheAnimal off in mid speech. A little trickery and a No Holds Barred match with Orton left Randy with yet another pitfall.
Diva of the Decade and 7 time Women's Champion, Trish Stratus, hosted RAW this week. Now brunette and kickin' it Toronto style, she continues to do it her way looking more fabulous than ever! She, too, made an announcement: Randy Orton vs. John Cena in a Hell in a Cell match at the next PPV!
Can life get any better than that? Why yes, it can my friends. Walk with me, talk with me.
Kofi Kingston & Primo teamed up to take on Jack Swagger & The Miz.The Miz couldn't win the United States Title from Kofi at Breaking Point so he stole it from him Monday night. More bad news, depending on which way you look at it, Swagger got the pin on a distracted Kofi and won the match.
The real news worthy item I found was Alicia Fox! Mickie James joined Jerry and Michael at the announcers table to watch what was called a Triple Threat match but really was a one-on-one match between Gail Kim and Alicia Fox for the #1 Contenders spot for the Divas Championship. Alicia Fox has really come into her own. She is remorseless, vicious and best of all, tough! Don't get me wrong. Both ladies are creative and charismatic. But "legs" walked away quite confidently with the win. In my opinion, she deserved it. Wow!
A direct and deliberate, Ted DiBiase locked up with a not so happy Shawn Michaels. While Ted was all over a bad blurry eyed Shawn, Triple H was keeping one good eye on Cody from the outside. The match was fluid and going well until one thing led to another. And then, Cody=chaos=DX=DQ! Awesome! Ah, those crazy kids. Play nice!
Here's what I'd like to see. I'd like to see Evan Bourne in a ladder match maybe with Primo. And, I'd also like to see Carlito get a trim and get into a serious match vs. Kofi Kingston for the U.S. Title. I guess only time will tell. The truth is, you have such great talent such as Evan, Carlito, Chavo, Primo, The Miz and Kofi and only one U.S. Title. Hell, I'd even like to see Jack Swagger thrown into the mix. And, since Hornswoggle wants to be a part of the action, why not him as well? Something to think about. Back to the action Monday night, it was "Bourne-swoggle" who won the match but not without great effort from Chavo and Carlito. And maybe, just maybe, Chavo can leave Hornswoggle behind after he admitted defeat and gave up.
Does anyone else think it was weird that the man with several plans, Randy Orton, was unusually calm and gave up too easily at Breaking Point? I would LOVE to see a more brutal and savage side to Cena but Orton is so taciturn that Cena will actually have to transform into Randy's worst nightmare. There are so many facets to Randy. How many levels of "low" does Orton have? And how many will Cena be willing to go to in order to finally get to the primal side of Randy? This is a tumultuous relationship that maybe only a steel cage can settle. Eroding and eradication: Nice!
Trish back in action, if for only one night, was a wondrous thing to see. It brought back so many memories and made me miss her more. She partnered with MVP, no surprise there, but a great choice. Love his new "I'm sleeveless and I'm bringin' on the big guns" attitude. They faced Chris Jericho and a heated Beth Phoenix. What a moment for Beth though...and Big Show...and Mark Henry...and anyone else really who wanted to get in on the action. Trish made it a 6 person tag match instead and took home the win!
Batista's first match back and last match on RAW was against Randy Orton. I don't think Orton was really concentrating too much on Batista as Cena was still stuck in his craw. It showed too. Randy quickly wanted out. Cena wouldn't have it and Batista bombed him. The Animal will be a great addition to the SmackDown family and I wish him well. Welcome back big guy!

Opening matches are underestimated. It's a really great position to be in. Strictly speaking on behalf of myself, of course, I find the first match of the night to be the hook: The match that grabs the crowd and reels them in for an exciting night. To be positioned in the top spot is a wonderful opportunity to get the crowd ready for whatever is about to play out. For me, it's like popping open a can of soda that has already been shaken. The crowd is amped. So, does one effervesce or fizzle out? Paul Burchill and The Hurricane hardly fizzled or flattened in their opening match on ECW Tuesday night. Burchill is highly intense and dishes out high voltage shots that can be felt in neighboring counties. Katie Lea jumped onto the apron in an attempt to assist her brother but it backfired. The Hurricane took advantage of the mayhem and pinned the Ripper. Will we ever get to know the true identity of The Hurricane? It's a mystery that needs a good sleuth. Are you game?
Shelton Benjamin & Sheamus barely got along long enough to defeat the team of Yoshi Tatsu and Goldust. The Gold Standard grabbed the win (didn't say "stole") and Sheamus was none too happy about it. In fact, The CelticWarrior attacked Benjamin because he felt he should've been the one to get the victory. Shelton is becoming more and more impetuous and surprising and you know what? I LOVE it!
Someone has been eating his WOO WOO Wheaties! There seems to be a relentless frustration building up in Zack Ryder. He's a jackal in the ring with a ruthless aggression that is the complete opposite from his personality out of the ring. If he can keep the two traits separate he'll WOO is way to the top.
I marvel at the fact that Vladimir Kozlov can become a human battering ram. If the ring posts could talk I bet they'd be screaming when Kozlov enters the ring. Ezekiel Jackson has a passion for working the lower back and kidney areas and brings business to hospitals all across the globe. William "Bill" Regal takes delight and solace in his dignitaries' medieval manner to brutalize opponents. All in all, I'd say it's a great trio of terror. However, the match did get chaotic and unfortunately, it was Christian and Tommy Dreamer who became the punished.
Will we be privy to popular uprising at Breaking Point and be forced to dine at the Regal Roundtable Banquet? Or, will Christian gather the troops to storm the castle and seize control once more? Any way you slice it, I'm totally going to be a witness to this revolutionary event!
Now, where can I buy a pipe and a note pad for my sleuth duties?

Hello. Hello. Hello.
The legendary Bob Barker brought the house down on RAW Monday night. It was so great to see him and can I just mention how precious that microphone is? Love it. Also, it was great to hear the distinctive voice of Howard Finkel! He too did a fine job! I think watching RAW this week was such a good time. The pricing game in the beginning, the prizes that nobody won and the mayhem that ensued in and out of the ring all made for a wonderful night of crazy cool fun!
Mr. Jericho won the first pricing game whether he liked it or not. However, he couldn't win the bigger prize until he beat M.V.P. Mr.Porter didn't let any negative thinking into this match. He hit a beautiful jawbuster on Jericho and the "Ballin'" superstar took the win and the trip away from Happy Boy. Sorry. Mr. Jericho.
I've got two words for you, "Spin it!" Bob told DX to spin the big wheel to see who they'd face later on in the night and the lucky winners were Chris Masters and (uh oh) The Viper himself, Randy Orton.
Chavo was given the exciting opportunity to win a red Chevy Corvette. All he had to do was beat Evan Bourne. However, even with the added incentive Chavo still couldn't seal the deal. All the shoulder shimmies in the world couldn't shake his blues away after Hornswoggle interfered long enough for Bourne to roll Chavo up into a refreshing Guerrero wrap! Side note: How adorable is Evan Bourne? (hee hee).
Speaking of things all wrapped up, Cody Rhodes came out before his match with JohnCena and spoke briefly about last week's controversial RKO on his father Dusty. The young Rhodes chose his career over his family. It's as simple as that. Or is it? Here's what I got from it. Cody mentioned that Randy was the one who made him a "main eventer" not his father. However, he followed THAT up with this, "there is nothing this son wouldn't do for his career." Nothing, you say? Hmm, interesting. Let's shift the focus for a minute back to the match. What I liked about this match was that Cena no longer looked at Cody with underestimating eyes. Cody made Cena break a mean sweat by the end of the match. Of course, this excludes Randy Orton's little guest appearance. I've got to tell you something. I know Cena says he'll never change. But I, for one, would love to see him just once, take to Randy's level. He gets that little evil smirk and I go to pieces! (Got to giggle again)
What is this announcement of Batista's next week? I'm in suspense. Oh, and how fabulous will it be to see the one and only Trish Stratus again? Can't wait!
Another pricing game catapulted Santino into the spotlight. His prize was a Jacuzzi, minus the Bella twins. His job was to body slam the Big Show. He was quickly demolished but Mark Henry made his authoritative appearance to settle some unfinished business. Although Henry did get the slam on the giant, business is still on going between these two.
Bob Barker took Chavo down. Is there ANYONE who can't????
The Masterpiece, Chris Masters and the WWE ChampionRandy Orton (I sigh with relief when I say that), whipped DX member, Shawn Michaels from one end of the ring to the other. The match was getting out of control and Rhodes and DiBiase got Randy out of there before more damage was made. DX went after Legacy and the chase was on. All I saw were barrels. It was an all out brawl and made its way to the back and out the door! Meanwhile, The Viper slithered his way from the fray and made it back to the ring. John Cena wanted a piece of Randy but was caught with a vicious DDT and an RKO on a steel chair!
How long can a PPV last? I can't see either one of these men saying, "I quit". There's just too much at stake.
It's Labor Day. This blog, however, is hardly labor because I get to write about the new Intercontinental Champion, John Morrison! That match stole the show, ran away with it, came back and did it again! It was unbelievable and everything Morrison and Mysterio had was left on the mat! It was one of the best, if not, THE best Intercontinental Championship matches I've seen in a long time. The much talked about Dolph Ziggler was watching from a safe distance to scope out his competition for Breaking Point and what a match it will be! I can't wait. John Morrison is rising very quickly, hopefully not too quickly, but enough to get the locker room noticing. He is the here and now as well as the future. He stayed patient with himself, focused and in control. He's the epitome of "If you can dream it, you can achieve it." Bottom line: Morrison worked for it, was rewarded and will represent!
Big sportsmanship, Big congratulations! Great match!
Let's get back to Dolph Ziggler for a moment. What game is he playing with Maria? Is he playing a game at all? He's got my interest peaking in and out of the ring. Does Melina know more than she's letting on? Or, does Michelle McCool have something nasty up her sleeve? Good stuff. I'm hooked. I hope they keep this drama going. Speaking of the Divas, I was impressed by all four ladies in the tag team match. Layla and Natalya make a pretty dominating team. Layla hit some vicious moves and she was the one who caught my attention the most. Natalya, always one for doing damage, got a hard clothesline on Maria! But you have to give it up for Maria and her courage. She will not back down and doesn't shake easily. Although her partner Eve is athletic as hell and probably the stronger wrestler of the two, you mustn't underestimate the heart of Maria! Good match. Woohoo!
The Great Khali & Finlay teamed up to take on Kane & Mike Knox. It was a colossal match and a colossal win for Khali and Finlay. Of course, I wonder what the shelf life is for a shillelagh.
I thought Mr. McMahon looked very manly in his pastels!
R-Truth was assaulted again by Drew McIntyre. We have a ring crasher! I repeat. We have a ring crasher (using my best Scottish accent).
Thank the Lord for Matt Hardy! Timing is everything. One Hardy's exit is another Hardy's entrance and not a moment too soon! Matt Hardy was all business. Not only did he wake me up from the long winded lecture coma I fell into but he also hyped the place up! CM Punk came out dressed as Jeff Hardy mocking all that Jeff is about. He's definitely not out to make friends. I am a heel lover. That's not a secret if anyone has read any of my blogs. However, at least ONE redeeming quality allows me to connect with a heel. Punk has none. He is starting to relish the satisfaction of delivering pain. That, in itself, is an addiction. So, in my eyes, he is becoming a hypocritical heel. That's even worse. He's got a taste for it. He treats it like a friend. That kind of addiction can lead him down a different kind of dark road. Maybe that's why the Undertaker is making his presence known. There's only room for one dark presence. However, Matt is not about to let Punk out of his sight either. Punk has got a bulls eye on his back. Who will get to him first? Straight Edge might prove to be more toxic than anything else.
Love it! Bob Barker tonight! If you read, thank you! Live chat tonight. Yes!
