I'm absolutely sick and tired of all the references to Jeff Hardy as if he is the only one. Look at the list people, and I didn't bother to keep going because it is an institution in the business and always has been. Just shut the hell up with all the Hardy Bashing and pick on someone else for a change , there are plenty to choose from.
And anyone feel free to use this list for themselves when referencing comments on drug use and abuse.
A mark is someone who enjoys the show for what it is. They are able to suspend their disbelief and watch wrestling for what goes on on camera and doesn't care about what goes on backstage. A pure mark is unaware of the scripted nature of the program and believes that wrestling is a legitimate competition.
A smart mark is someone who is aware of the staged nature of the show but can still suspend their disbelief to a certain extent. I guess you could say this works for movies and TV too. People know it's not real, but they are able to enjoy it for what it is.
A smark is someone who thinks they know everything about the business. They tend to put down marks and others who can suspend their disbelief while watching the show. Smarks tend to nit-pick and question every decision a wrestling company makes. They seem to favor heels and hate faces just because they are faces. Smarks are generally very fickle. They complain about a certain area, but when that changes to favor their suggestions, many times they'll change their position on it. For example, many smarks whined and complained about the same people being in title contention all the time. However, now that CM Punk is the World Champion, many smarks say he hasn't been with the company long enough to deserve it. Also, many smarks assume they know everything that happens backstage. For example, the majority a smarks believe that Triple H would have never won a single world title had he not married Stephanie McMahon. Also, many smarks blame Triple H for the lack of success many wrestlers had in WWE.
