    RAW Insite for 1-5-09

Monday, January 5, 2009, 11:30 PM EST [General]

Well I'm back after my two week hiatus for the holidays and it is good to be back.  Show of hands, who missed me?  Anyone?  No one missed me?  Ah nuts! LOL

Regal tried to pull a fast one on C.M. Punk and take the easy way out by getting himself dq'ed so he could keep his title.  Stephanie had other plans and made the right call.  That was no way for the first title match of 2009 to end.

Again I keep asking, what is Mike Knox's problem with Rey Mysterio?  Sure Mysterio beat him last week after Cena FU'ed the Grizzly Adams lookalike.  I guess Knox likes to bully people smaller than himself.  I wonder how he would fair against someone the same size as him.

I think I speak for everyone when I say, JILLIAN HALL STOP SINGING!  My ears are still bleeding after that awful rendition of When the Saints Go Marchin In.  If the Saints heard her singing, they wouldn't march, they would RUN!

Shawn Micheals is starting to look like Sting, conflicted.  I feel bad for the guy.  He lost everything and he took JBL up on his offer so he can support his family.  JBL sure is taking advantage of him.  I thought for sure that HBK would superkick Cena but he never did.

Orton kicked Sim Snuka and Manu out of Legacy.  WHY?  I just had a thought.  Could there actually be a new Wild Samoan team in the near future?  Both Manu and Snuka are Samoan.  It could happen.  Orton did spit in the face of the original Wild Samoans and Snuka does have tag team experience.  Legacy might be in for it if this scenario pans out.

For my RAW Star of the Week, I give it to HBK for not kicking Cena and helping him win the match against Jericho and Orton.

For my RAW Loser of the Week, I give it to William Regal for trying to take the easy way out of his match against C.M. Punk.  For a man who stated he wanted to bring honor and prestige to the title, he sure took the low road real fast.

    TNA Impact Insite for 12-18-08

Thursday, December 18, 2008, 11:28 PM EST [General]

Kurt Angle crossed the line when he brought Jeff Jarrett's kids into this conflict.  Angle had no right to involve Jarrett's kids or even mention them.  Jarrett had every right to go in there and beat the snot out of the leader of the MEM.  Angle may soon rue the day he wanted to get back in the ring with the King of the Mountain, Jeff Jarrett.

TNA just isn't the same without Curryman.  His form of entertainment will be missed.

What is the deal with Suicide?  The TNA game sucked bad so why bring a video game character to life?  And to make matters worse, I heard a rumor that under that mask is KAZ!

Sharmel did something that pretty much anybody can do in TNA, put one over on Abyss.  I mean I like the guy, he's fierce in the ring, but outside the ring he needs help.  I'm just hoping that Matt Morgan can be the one who can help him.  They had Steiner and Booker T. on the ropes and if it hadn't been for Sharmel, Morgan and Abyss would have won this match.

Sting is getting more and more conflicted every week.  I don't know how he can stand being with the MEM after what they did to Brother Ray who will be out indefinitely.  Sting needs to really reconsider being with the Mafia.  Their intentions and his intentions are two totally different things.  How long will it be before Sting finally leaves the MEM?

For my TNA Impact Star of the Week, it goes to TNA Management for making Rhino vs Sting for the TNA World Heavyweight Title.  Imagine the kind of stroke the Frontline would get if Rhino beats Sting, again, and brings the title home.  And he could bring the title home with the GORE, GORE, GORE!

For my TNA Impact Loser of the Week, it goes to Mick Foley.  What the heck is Foley doing with the MEM?  It can't be because of financial reasons.  Did Foley swerve Jarrett and everybody else?  Well from his actions last week and this week, it sure does look like it.

    SMACKDOWN VS RAW 2009 review

Wednesday, December 17, 2008, 01:50 PM EST [General]

The latest installment of the SMACKDOWN VS RAW series has arrived and what a game it is!  The graphics are stunning, the soundtrack is amazing, and the gameplay is awesome.

One of the new things in SVR 2009 is the ability to download new superstars into the game.  What a concept!  No longer do we have to toil away in the create-a-wrestler mode just to get the wrestler we want that wasn't on the original roster for the game.  You can now simply download it onto the game.

Another great new thing is SVR 2009 is the new Create-A-Finisher mode.  Personal experience, I worked on my custom finisher for over an hour till I got it the way that I liked it.  THQ must be after my heart to add this feature into the game.  If there is a finisher that you don't like, you can go ahead and make your own finisher.  And the ability to either have a custom name for the finisher or use one of the preset names that are supported by the in game commentary makes me jump for joy.

However I do have a few gripes about this installment of the series.

When the game was advertised on television, there was a promise of a big tag team storyline.  So I finally get my hands on the game and there is only one storyline and the only team you can use is Batista and Rey Mysterio.  I now pose this question to THQ and WWE.  Why?  Why only one tag team storyline?  Why not have a custom tag team storyline for all the characters?  To have only one storyline for the team mode and the fact you can only use Batista and Rey Mysterio kinda blows in my opinion.

The Create-A-Title feature is now history, which saddens me.  I loved making custom titles and naming them.  I guess to have one new feature, you have to get rid of the other one.

In the past installments of this game, there was always a custom storyline for the Create-A-Character.  However in this installment, THQ decided to nix this feature from the game.  And again I ask this question, WHY?  Why get rid of one the game's better features in a custom storyline?  The only use of a custom wrestler in this installment is to do exhibition matches and title tournaments on the game.  I want to see how my custom wrestler would fare in actual WWE storylines.  I want to see my custom wrestler interact with the other stars in the back.  I want to see my custom wrestler become a star and thanks to THQ, I can't.

A new feature in the game allows you to pause and rewind certain moments in a match and save them like a recording.  Then you can go back and edit some, add music and graphics and whatnot.  You can then save it and view it like a dvd which is nice but why not use this feature to make custom titantron videos for the custom wrestlers?  One of my biggest gripes for this whole franchise is the fact you can't make custom titantron videos for the custom wrestlers.  I am tired of seeing the WWE Logo flash on and off for my custom wrestler.  The only game that had custom titantron videos for custom wrestlers was RAW 2 for the XBOX.  I enjoyed that feature in the game and I was hoping that they would carry that feature over into the SVR franchise, but it never happened.

Despite these gripes I have, the game is outstanding.  If I had to pick, head to head, between TNA Impact and SVR 2009, SVR 2009 would win everytime.  SMACKDOWN VS RAW 2009 gets 4 bodyslams out of 5.

    ECW Insite for 12-16-08

Tuesday, December 16, 2008, 10:42 PM EST [General]

Who couldn't be happier for Jeff Hardy finally becoming WWE Champion other than his own brother, the current ECW Champion Matt Hardy?  No one that this Wrestlegamer can think of.  Hardy mentioned that when he and his brother came to the WWE ten years ago, they wanted to cement their names in WWE history.  With Jeff's win, they have done just that.  Two former team mates, two brothers for the first time are major title holders in the WWE.  Matt with the ECW Championship and Jeff with the WWE Championship.  I am certain it will be a very Merry Christmas in the Hardy household this year.  I guess Chavo thought he could spoil the moment for Matt by challenging him for the ECW title.  His effort was all for naught as once again Matt defeated Chavo and retained his ECW title.

DJ Gabriel and Alicia Fox showed everybody that they can jiggy with it, even with Christmas music.  The World's Strongest Santa, you read right, turned the joyful holiday moment into a dark warning for Hornswaggle with a promise to eliminate him with a World's Strongest Slam.  Poems like that coming from a man like Mark Henry scare me.

Speaking of Hornswaggle, he was up to his usual antics by swiping Matt Striker and Todd Grissom's Slammy and pouring water on Striker.  Striker wasn't too pleased but he kept his cool considering the fact that Finlay was right there.  I tell you what, if a man like Finlay was right next to me, I would let Hornswaggle pull any kind of prank he wanted on me.

For my ECW Star of the Week, I give it to Matt Hardy for retaining his title and for shutting Chavo up.

For my ECW Loser of the Week, I give it to Tony Atlas for his somewhat outrageous reindeer getup.

    RAW Insite for 12-15-08

Tuesday, December 16, 2008, 12:26 AM EST [General]

I am really really steamed after what I saw on RAW.  You want to know who I am steamed at?  THE WWE FANS! Last night the WWE Universe decided to turn their backs on Shawn Micheals for wanting to provide for his family.  The Universe decided not to listen to anything HBK had to say and booed him and called him a sellout.  I wanted to puke after I saw that.  The man lost everything in the stock market, JBL (even though he is a vulture) decided to help Shawn out and offer him a job.  That tells me there is a least a small amount of human decency in JBL.  Those people who decided to boo HBK for what he did are morons and need to wake up.  These wrestlers have families that they have to provide for.  If doing what's best for his family is wrong, the WWE Universe needs a serious wake up call to real life.

Jericho flat out insulted Hacksaw Jim Duggan and it made me want to jump into my tv screen, land in the ring and slap the snot out of Jericho.  This man is a legend, a future hall of famer and Jericho treated him like dirt.  Duggan is a former King of the Ring and did not deserve the treatment he got from the former world champion.  Now I wonder what Cryme Tyme meant when they told Hacksaw it's time. Could they...?  No they couldn't.  But could they....?

Stephanie sure gave Jericho a tongue lashing for refusing to wrestle against Hacksaw.  Jericho needs to remember that she is a McMahon and has some serious stroke around RAW.  Stephanie laid a bomb shell about next week and those four matches.  I can't wait to see how that comes out.

I wonder if Santa Haas will visit me for Christmas this year.  I don't know if I should be delighted or frightened.

Speaking of frightening things, what in the world is going on in the warped mind of Kane?  The WWE Universe, being the morons that they are, booed Kelly Kelly when she ran out of the ring when Kane offered her a hand up.  Good move again WWE Universe.  More stupid moves like that and I might end up seeing Jericho's side of things.  And another thing, did everybody really think that Kelly Kelly was dating the Miz?  Kelly Kelly outsmarted Kane and got out of there in a flash.

What is Mike Knox's deal regarding Rey Mysterio?  Why is he after him?  And why doesn't he shave that stupid beard?  I said Edge's beard was lame and he must have read my blog and finally did something smart and shaved it.  Knox, read my blog, YOUR BEARD IS AWFUL!  I thought Edge's beard was lame, but Mike Knox takes the cake in my opinion.

For my RAW Star of the Week, I give it to Kelly Kelly for her win in that diva tag team match and outsmarting Kane, which really isn't all that hard to do.

For my RAW Losers of the Week, it's a tie.  The first person is Randy Orton for attacking Batista and punting his head almost into the second row at ringside.  If Batista can't wrestle Orton next week, what happens then?  The other Loser of the Week goes to the WWE Universe for their lack of respect for HBK.  HBK was doing the right thing for his family and you all turned your backs on him.
