    The Royal Rumble Pay-Per-View

Monday, January 12, 2009, 12:24 PM EST [General]

So the Royal Rumble will be in Detroit, MI on January 25th this year. So far, the card's looking pretty good. All of which are championship matches save the main event Royal Rumble match. I wonder if they'll add another match to the card, considering how last year they had four singles matches leading up into the Royal Rumble match. If they do add another match it should be for the ECW Championship, as I doubt they'd put a tag team title match on the card.

Here are my predictions for the card thus far:

Women's Championship Match: Beth Phoenix (c) v. Melina

I'd like to see Melina winning because I think Beth is boring and her partnership with Santino stale and somewhat ridiculous. Plus, she's kinda overrated and reminds me of a man in drag. Also the Rosa thing (the out of control fan of late) is a total ripoff of the Trish Stratus-Mickie James storyline from 2005-2006. Seriously creative, do fresh storylines!

World Heavyweight Championship Match: John Cena (c) v. JBL w/Shawn Michaels

JBL needs to retire or go back to being a commentator. Yes, John "Superman" Cena is kinda overrated too, but love him or hate him, Cena = ratings! I see him holding the belt til Wrestlemania 25 and losing to Randy Orton, considering Batista's out on injury. I'm also very interested in where they're going with this JBL-Shawn Michaels storyline. I think it's kinda weird, but if it ends with Shawn Michaels getting one last World title run before he retires, I'm all for it.

WWE Championship Match: Jeff Hardy (c) v. Edge

Jeff Hardy as WWE Champion? Seriously? I didn't order Armageddon so you can imagine my surprise upon going to WWE.com hours after it went off the air and seeing the top story as such. I don't hate Jeff Hardy, but I don't particularly like him either. He's a walking disaster waiting to happen, and wasn't he fired from the company before, thus the reason he went to TNA? Edge is awesome, but maybe I'm just being biased because he's my fave wrestler of all time. I think it's interesting to note though that all of Edge's World title runs have been no longer then two or three months (his reign from Armageddon '07-Wrestlemania 24 being his longest thus far). It's time he has a long reign like Triple H last year and John Cena the years before that. With that said, this match could go either way. Jeff Hardy may retain, but then again he may not. It may all come down to the wellness test in February. I don't know if that's done before or after No Way Out though. I guess we'll just have to see.

    Royal Rumble Match

This could be anyone's ball game, but I'm kinda seeing Randy Orton winning it. Or then again, maybe not. It could be Chris Jericho. Other contenders I see are Shawn Michaels or Triple H. CM Punk's probably reaching. Who knows. I'm sure whoever it is will be world title worthy.

Next week's Slammy Awards and this Friday's SmackDown!

Hey people! Doreen here! How exciting is it that the Slammy Awards are back? And the awesome matches scheduled for the show (Edge v. John Cena; Triple H v. Batistia) are an added bonus. Can't wait till Monday! But until then, there's this Friday night's SmackDown!. Seriously, when is this Big Show-Undertaker feud going to end? Now with Edge back, Vickie's no longer in it, so what gives? Hopefully this is it, because this is just now on the borderline of being boring. Plus, isn't Undertaker supposed to be feuding with Umaga whenever he comes back? I read that somewhere. That should be interesting, considering Umaga doesn't really speak English. But then again, neither does The Great Khali and look at him. Doing his own version of the Kiss Cam Maria made famous. Only his is much funnier!
