    Not here to be featured

Tuesday, April 22, 2008, 04:32 PM EST [General]

    Hey Cats & Kittens

Some of you may have notice my mug was on that featured list on the home page of WWE Fan Nation... well I requested I got pulled off it.

The reason being is that I'm not here to be featured, just to enjoy talking about the WWE and sports entertainment in general, and the last thing I need is my stuff being pointed out (As Tweek on South Park would say: Too much pressure!).

The other reason I don't want to be featured has to do with, well, I have a way of pissing people off... and I'm not going to get into an arguments over how I think regarding certain subjects.

Besides, it's much more fun to have people find my blogs than having it pointed out to them

Of course, that's just my opinion... and in this case that's the only one that matters

The Legacy of ECW (and how it's the same)

Tuesday, April 22, 2008, 02:18 PM EST [General]

    Hey Cats & Kittens...

Another blogger here on WWE Fan Nation posted a blog complaing at how the 'new ECW' isn't the old ECW.

First... the new ECW can't be the old ECW because the old ECW is DEAD. D-E-A-D. Get it? It means it failed, it died, it went kaput, it has ceased to be, etc, etc.

Now as I stated a few days ago, the spirit and idea of ECW is still the same. When you get right down to the bare-bones of it, ECW is about guys and gals getting the opporunity to become Superstars or get a second or third chance.

Just look at the old ECW Alumni. Raven was Johnny Polo in the WWE, RVD was Robbie V in WCW, Jerry Lynn was Mr. JL in WCW, Justin Credible was Aldo Montya in the WWF, but they all got chances to reinvent themselves in ECW. Now look at all the guys who came though ECW as the first major stop in their careers: Tommy Dreamer, Nunzio (as Damian Stone then Little Guido) Stevie Richards and Balls Mahoney (I am aware of his run in SMW and his role as Xanta Clause in the WWE).

Now look at today's ECW Roster: Shelton Benjamin is on his fourth 'chance' Big Daddy V has been Mable and / or Viscera for the better part of the past 15 years, Chavo Guerrero's career has gotten new life, plus Kane has finally won his second World title. Plus look at the guys who have gotten a chance to really shine thanks to ECW: Colin Delany, John Morrison, The Miz, Mike Knox, Kofi Kingston, Elijah Burke and Matt Striker (Yes Morrison, Miz, Burke and Striker were on other brands first, but it was in ECW they really broke though).

But some people refuse to see it like this, and thus are destined to complain because they want something that's been dead for nearly a decade.

But that's just my opinion, I could be (But in this case I'm not) wrong

    Eight Years Ago Today...

Tuesday, April 22, 2008, 01:27 PM EST [General]

    Hey Cats and Kittens

Eight years ago on this very day, ECW Star Tommy Dreamer defeated WWE Superstar Tazz for the ECW Championship eight days after Tazz won from WCW Superstar Mike Awesome.

    Confused yet?

Trust me, it was very confusing back in 2000 when it all happened.

Now I'm not a fan of arm-chair booking my any means... but if Paul Heyman was the so-called creative genius some people make him out to be... why didn't he take advantage of this golden opportunity. Instead of having say Tommy Dreamer, Jerry Lynn Justin Credible, Raven, Lance Storm, Steve Corino, Sandman or Rhino (All of whom on the active ECW Roster at the time) were  take on Awesome in a big time match to have an ECW Wrestler take on an WCW Superstar... he borrowed Tazz, a WWE Superstar to squah Awesome in some ballroom in Indiana.

Now of course, we did get to see ECW Champion vs WWE Champion on SmackDown because of this, which was cool... but in the end, it was just another mistake by Heyman that ended up killing ECW quicker.

Of course... that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Is Rey Mysterio cursed or just plain unlucky

Tuesday, April 22, 2008, 10:40 AM EST [General]

    Hey Cats & Kittens...

I'm sure some 'know it alls' are going to instantly figure out what I meant by 'Is Rey Mysterio cursed' since a lot of folks like to point to some coinicdences that happened in late 2005 and early 2006. But I want to bring up the often ignored side of things.

Rey Mysterio, long before even entering the WWE, has been injury-prone. Blame it on the lucha-libre style, his small body, or what not, Rey is no stranger to the surgical knife or just missing time peiord. Look at his run in World Championship Wrestling, from 1997 till the end, Rey was sidelined for one reason or another. Rey was then pretty much inactive from March 2001 until he finally signed with the WWE in 2002... and well... this just speaks for itself.

July 25, 2002: Mysterio debuts on Smackdown, fighting Chavo Guerrero.
December 5, 2002: Mysterio is taken out by Albert. He then undergoes arthroscopic knee surgery.
    January 16, 2003: Mysterio returns.
April 23, 2003: Big Show throws Mysterio into a turnbuckle whilst strapped to a stretcher. Reportedly he is shaken up after the event and spends the night in hospital for observation.
October 20, 2006: Chavo Guerrero defeats Rey Mysterio in an "I Quit" match.
November 3, 2006: Mysterio comes out on crutches and promises to return some day. Chavo Guerrero takes him out. He then has more knee surgery.
August 26, 2007: Mysterio returns triumphantly to defeat Chavo Guerrero.
February 14, 2008: Mysterio suffers a bicep injury during an overseas tour. He'll be out for 6 months

On an average, since debuting in the WWE, Rey seems to get close to a year of full action before missing 6-10 months. That's not a curse, that's just plain being unlucky.

Now yes Rey has been wrestling for 19 years and I'm taking that into account, but since Rey has kept the same high flying lucha-style, one has to one how long can his body take being unlucky with injuries.

My guess is, maybe two or three years

Of course that's just my opinion, I could be wrong

    The Political Invasion of RAW

Tuesday, April 22, 2008, 12:19 AM EST [General]

    Hey Cats & Kittens...

My best friend Kristi pointed this out to me and I didn't really think much of it, but boy did Obama look totally uninterested in his video clip. Eyes looked like he was reading off of a teleprompter or cue cards cause he kept looking left to right (or from his point of view right to left).

Now John McCain (the man I will be voting for come November) looked like he had fun and to a lesser extent so did Hilary Clinton. They had a certain energy that could be felt with how they spoke. If either was reading off oa teleprompter or cue cards, it didn't show and they wanted their messages to stick with the crowd as being fun and encouraging people to vote.

Lastly... the Clinton-Obama match was just fun. It was so silly and whoever played The Clintons and Obama get serious kudos for having a tough job of doing politcal satire. Not to mention, the apperance of Umaga was just awesome. Sure people can say it was predticable... but this little thought popped into my head: Umaga is a McCain supporter and he just took out 'Clinton' and "Obama'

Of course... that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.
