WWE Cracking down on illegal PPV streams

Friday, May 15, 2009, 01:16 PM PST [General]

    source: PWInsider.com

-- World Wrestling Entertainment is well aware of websites such as Justin.TV streaming pay-per-view broadcasts for free in real time and have been much more adamant in recent months in shutting down the feeds.

During any one pay-per-view event, a multitude of live streams can be found on Justin.TV, some of which attracting upwards of 500,000 visitors. In response, WWE now has their legal team scouring the website during live shows for feeds in hopes of squashing as many as they can.

According to one source, they are taking the same approach to these sites that feature WWE copyrighted material being posted on YouTube.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm all for a business making as much money as possible. And for the WWE, the PPV buys are a big source of income. But, I think its pretty stupid that they would crack down on the illegal PPV streams. Thats not going to get people to order their PPV's. The WWE's problem is that it the PPV costs are way too high. Nobody wants to pay $40.00 to watch a PPV. I'm not going to pay $40.00 to watch a WWE PPV unless the PPV has really good matches or something I want to see. If the WWE wanted to raise they're PPV buys the best idea would be to lower the cost of the PPV. Why don't they lower it to $25.00 or $30.00?

I am not going to ordering Judgment Day, I will be looking for an illegal stream or I might go down to my local sports bar and pay $5.00 to watch the PPV. I refuse to pay $40.00 to watch a PPV that has maybe 2 good matches, especially in this economy.

    Raw Review 4/27/09

Tuesday, April 28, 2009, 06:45 PM PST [General]

After a great Backlash PPV, the WWE had the chance on having a great RAW, but fell short... way short. I believe the WWE could of did a better job with RAW. It seemed like they didn't try. The show really didn't have any direction. But I will try to look at the positives.

The promo at the begining of RAW was alright. The promo seemed really slow until MVP came out. Once MVP came out he saved the segement. I really hope that they start pushing MVP to Main Event Status. He proved last night that not only is he a better wrestler than Orton, but he is a way better talker than Orton. I hope him and Orton feud have a feud this year. It gets a 3/5. MVP by himself got a 4.5/5

Then Brian Kendrick vs. Kofi Kingston was next. Sadly the WWE gave my hopes up. It was a good match for it only being a 2 minute match. Really good action. I like both wrestlers in the match so I was looking forward to watching the match. I hope these guys can wrestle on WWE Superstars and really show what they could do to the WWE crowd. Kofi Kingston ended up getting the win after a buzzsaw kick.

    Big Show-Vickie segment = Boring.

Divas Match(Including Santina) = Broing. I tried to sit through this but I couldn't stand it. So I turned the channel. I don't even know what happend at the end.

Matt Hardy Segment(with a cast on his arm. Because he broke his hand at Backlash). I loved his promo. I loved the whiny heel that Matt is playing it was extremely entertaing to watch. After the promo is when it went down hill. Matt fought Goldust, with Matt winning after he hit Goldust in the head with a cast. Besides the Cast on the head Matt didn't get any offence in. Promo got 4/5. Match got 1/5 just because Matt did have a broken hand.

MVP vs. Randy Orton Match. This was a good match until Shane came out and ruined the match. I was hoping that the match would have a finish. Again MVP showed how much better he is than Orton. Hopefully this is a preview of either the Extreme Rules PPV or the Great American Bash. It got a 3/5.

The Miz promo. Wow, this promo showed how good of a talked the Miz is. He ended up calling Cena out but Cena didn't come out. The Miz also spoke some truth during the Promo. He first made fun of Cena and his movies, then he spoke some truth about the same people in the main event year after year.  The Miz's promo scored a 4.5/5.

The Colons vs. Chavo and Jamie Noble was next. This was a good match. I wish they would start pushing Jamie Noble. The entire crowd was dead during the match. The Colons got no reaction when they came out. The Colons ended up winning the match. The match got a 2.5/5.

Main Event: Big Show vs. Batista for the #1 contender spot to fight Orton at Judgement Day. One word can describe this match: BORING! Batista won after Cena came out distracted the Big Show. The only thing this match proved is that Cena is scared of the Miz. The WWE did a horrible job with that. Cena gets called out by Miz and he doesn't show, but Cena was there the entire time. Thats One for the Miz.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Overal the show scored a 6/10. The WWE could of did a better job capitalizing on Backlash.

My MVP of the Show would be MVP. With the Miz coming in close in 2nd.

    It would go:

    1. MVP

    2. The Miz

    3. Kofi Kingston

    4. The Brian Kendrick

    5. Randy Orton

    Backlash Review

Sunday, April 26, 2009, 09:46 PM PST [General]

Jack Swagger(c) vs. Christian for ECW Championship

Winner: Christian to become the new ECW Champion

    Rating: 4.5/5

This was easily the best match of the night. The action was fast paced, great ring psychology, just a great match altogether. This was a match of the year candidate(Swagger and Christians 2nd MOTY candidate).  My only minor problem with this match was that they should of let the match go about 25 minutes.

(Note: After the match I loved the confrontation between Edge and Christian I thought it was extremely entertaining)

(Intresting Note: Mostly all my match of the Year Candidates have included Jack Swagger in the match. I will list my MOTY candidates at the end of the review)

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Chris Jericho vs. Ricky Steamboat

    Winner: Chris Jericho

    Rating: 3/5

Coming in I expected this match to be good, and it delivered. I still cant get over the fact that Steamboat still wrestles like he did 20 years ago. The booking of the match was perfect. It made Steamboat look like a million bucks. And Jericho was gold. I hope that during the summer Chris Jericho and CM Punk feud for the World title.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    CM Punk vs. Kane

    Winner: Kane

    Rating: 3.5/5

I didn't think this match was going to be that good but I was surprised. I forgot that these guys have had a couple great matches against each other before. But this match was a great match. Both guys came out looking like a million bucks. And thats what a good wrestling match is supposed to do.

(Note: I would also like to wish Kane a happy birthday. He turned 42 years young today.)

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Matt Hardy vs. Jeff Hardy in a "I Quit" match

    Winner: Jeff Hardy

    Rating: N/A

I didn't get to watch this match because my feed cut out during the match. But from what I heard it was a good match, but not as good as it could of been. I did get to catch the ending and I thought the ending was extremely stupid. Also, I am upset that they didn't put Matt over Jeff. I think Matt would of benifited more from winning.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Santina, Great Khali and Beth Phoenix confrontation that turned into a match between Santina and Beth.

Winner: Santina(I know for sure the winner wasn't the fans)

    Rating: 0/5

Why do they give Santino and Khali PPV time? They could of just did this segment on RAW, and gave the extra PPV time to Christian and Jack Swagger.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Legacy vs. Triple H(c), Batista, and Shane McMahon for the WWE Championship

Winner: The Legacy, making Randy Orton the new WWE Champion.

    Rating: 2.5/5

This match had it moments but it was still pretty bad. I thought the ending where Triple H got carried out on a stretcher was to over done. For one thing Orton completely missed the kick, and the other thing was that Triple H got kicked in the head and had to get carried out. Thats a very stupid. Austin broke his neck in the ring and finished the match and walk out on his legs. A kick to the head wouldn't do that. To unrealistic. Also I wished they would of turned Batista heel. Raw is dominated by top faces, RAW needs heels.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

John Cena(c) vs. Edge in a "Last Man Standing" match for the World Heavyweight Championship

Winner: Edge to become the World Heavyweight Champion for the 9th time.

    Rating: 3/5

This match was a good match but I thought it could of been a lot better. It started out really slow but it picked up mid way through the match. I liked the ending, it may have been a little corny but it was still pretty entertaining. I'm glad they put the title back on Edge, I think him and Punk will have a summer long feud begining next month at Judgement Day. Which I think is going to be very entertaining.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Overall Rating: 8/10

This was a lot better than I expected. Very solid action from the begining of the PPV to the end of the PPV. I hope the WWE can continue doing extremely solid shows. I think I will pay to watch Judgement Day if it has a strong card.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Like I noted before, he is my list of Match of the Year Candidates(Just from the WWE). There has been a lot of great matches in the WWE this year.

    1. Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels(Wrestlemania)

    2. Christian vs. Jack Swagger for the ECW Championship(Backlash)

    3. Christian vs. Jack Swagger for the ECW Championship(ECW 02/24/2009)

    4. Matt Hardy vs. Jack Swagger for the ECW Championship(Royal Rumble)

    5. John Cena vs. Jack Swagger(RAW 04/13/09)

    6. Edge vs. Kofi Kingston(WWE Superstars 04/23/09)

    7. Matt Hardy vs. Undertaker(WWE Superstars 04/16/09)

    WWE Edits ECW Broadcast

Friday, April 24, 2009, 02:14 AM PST [General]

    source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

-- A few comments made on commentary following the Evan Bourne vs. John Morrison match on last week's episode of ECW were edited out of the show's replay over the weekend (which airs on Universal HD on Saturday nights). Matt Striker used the term "match of the year candidate" with Josh Matthews calling it a "five-star match." Both terms were stricken from the replay.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is how bad the WWE is getting. They wont even let the commentators call a great match, a great match. Is it the fact that a couple of midcard guys a great match that upsets them? Are the main eventers complaining that the midcard guys are having better matches than they are? Its pretty sad that when two great competiters have a great match that it can't be a 5-Star match or a match of the year candidate. This just shows how paranoid the WWE is. They think if the midcard guys have a great match that people will froget about the main eventers. Or this just show how much better the midcarders are than the main eventers that the WWE currently shoves down our throats. This makes me sick.

    TNA Lockdown 2009 Review

Monday, April 20, 2009, 06:05 AM PST [General]

Xscape Match for the X Division Title
Suicide (c) v. Jay Lethal v. Kiyoshi v. Sheik Abdul Bashir v. Consequences Creed

    Winner: Suicide

    Rating: 3.5

I enjoyed this match. I think it had the potential to be better but it was still pretty good. I like the ending with Suicide doing a suicide dive through the cage to win. One of the things that bugged me was that Bashir was one of the final two. He has no business being in the final two. He has great charisma but his wrestling skill is average at best.

    Queen of the Cage Match
ODB v. Madison Rayne v. Sojo Bolt v. Daffney

    Winner: ODB

    Rating: 1.5

I didn't enjoy this match. They only one that impressed me in the match was Daffney. Sadly, the match was what I expected.

New Japan Jr. Tag Team Title Match
The Motor City Machineguns (c) v. LAX v. No Limit

    Winner: Mortor City Machine Guns

    Rating: 3.75

This was the match of the night for me. All three of the tag teams worked their **** off and really impressed me. I was unfamiliar with Team No Limit, but after this match I may go on Youtube and try to find some of their matches from Japan.

    Doomsday Chamber of Blood Match
    Matt Morgan v. Abyss

    Winner: Matt Morgan

    Rating: 2.0

This match did nothing for me. I just seemed to be badly booked and I expected more out of both Morgan and Abyss. Abyss hasn't been the same since he came back, he used to be a good big man and now his work is boring. I am not a fan of Morgan. I don't think Matt Morgan is that good of a wrestler, and he really doesn't have any charisma. The Steve Richards thing at the end was kind of stupid. I like Stevie but I don't think he will last in TNA. I think his best bet would be to become Abyss manager. Thats all I have to say about this match.

Six Sides of Steel; TNA Knockouts Championship Match
Angelina Love v. Awesome Kong (c) v. Taylor Wilde

    Winner: Angelina Love

    Rating: N/A

I didn't get to catch this match so I have no opinion on it.

Six Sides of Steel; Philly Street Fight; Champions vs. Champions
    Team 3D (c) v. Beer Money Inc. (c)

    Winner: Team 3D

    Rating: 3.0

I enjoyed this match, but there was something missing from this match. I don't know what it was but there was something missing. It seems to me that Beer Money is the only team that can get a good match out of 3D anymore. This might of solitified Beer Money as one of the best tag teams in wrestling at the moment. Thats really all I have to say.

Six Sides of Steel; Lethal Lockdown
Team Jarrett (Jeff Jarrett, AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, and Christopher Daniels) v. Team Angle (Kurt Angle, Booker T, Scott Steiner, and Kevin Nash)

    Winner: Team Jerret

    Rating: 3.5

This was a good match. It would have been a better match if Scott Stiener and Kevin Nash weren't in the match. I wish they would of let Daniels get the pin on Booker instead of AJ. The big story about this match was that Bobby Lashley made his TNA debut. I will explain my opinion on Bobby Lashley, and the angle with Samoa Joe after I review the main event.

Six Sides of Steel: TNA World Championship Match
Mick Foley v. Sting (c) (Foley is new Champion)

Winner: Mick Foley to win the TNA World Championship

    Rating: 2.5

I was not in to this match. I was slow, it didn't have any Hardcore action, it was just an average match. I am wonding why Foley won the TNA title. I didn't make any sense to me. I don't want to see another Foley v. Sting match. However I am kind of interested on why they put the title on Foley. It seems stupid but will see.

    Overall: 3.0

I thought the show was a solid show. I am glad I didn't spend the $30.00 on it. I think if TNA would put on a few PPVs as good as this one they might gain back my trust.

On the Samoa Joe angle. For those of you who didn't watch the PPV, before Joe came out for the Lethal Lockdown match, the cameras cut to the back to see Joe getting coach by a mysterious person. Right after Joe got in the ring he started doing lots of Taz-like suplexes. And TNA has vowed to discover who the mystery man who talked to Joe before he came out. I think it they will discover that Taz is the one who has turned Joe into this monster. I hope if Taz come to TNA they get rid of either Tenay or West and have Tax replace one of them.

On Bobby Lashleys debut. I am not the biggest Bobby Lashley fan. I think he has the potential to be one of the best wrestlers ability wise, but he has to do a lot to improve on his charisma. I don't think he will work as a heel, just for the fact that he has no charisma. My fear is that they will throw Lashley in the main event in a matter of months. Though, I am intrugied by a match between him and Samoa Joe. I would like to see how Lashley does in TNA. I don't know what this does with his MMA career. Another thing I don't like is that it overshadows Christopher Danield coming back. I hope if they had any plan for the Fallen Angel in the main event that this didn't break those plans.

My theroy on Foley title reign. I think he will forefit the title and they will have a tournement for the vacant TNA Championship. I don't think they have another Sting/Foley match, if they do it would be one of the worse decisions they have ever done. I just hope they dont put the TNA Championship on Lashley. Because there are guys who deserve it more than him(Daniels, Styles,  and Joe).
