Two days ago at Summerslam, D-Generation X made their long-awaited return in front of a capacity crowd at the Staples Center and the rest of the WWE Universe through pay-per-view. We know DX knows how to arrive in style, having seen their custom limousine on last week's Raw, but on Sunday night they arrived for battle, riding atop a tank flanked by military men and accompanied by really, really expensive pyrotechnics.
Of course, when DX met Legacy in the ring, the match was all but certain to go to the veterans Triple H & Shawn Michaels. That's not to say that Legacy didn't put up a fight, but DX kept one step ahead and proved exactly why it's such a big deal when they get back together by securing yet another victory.
Meanwhile, one night later on Raw, DX made a pointed effort to help Mr. McMahon celebrate his 68th or 86th birthday, and they did so in true Las Vegas style with showgirls, Cirque Du Soleil performers and even an Elvis impersonator. Oh, and Big Dick Johnson. Surprisingly, Mr. McMahon largely kept his cool, which was about the time that Legacy performed their second sneak attack on DX. Now, McMahon and DX's feud runs deep, but McMahon and Legacy's feud runs far deeper. Thus, in the temporary abscence of guest host Floyd "Money" Mayweather, it fell to Triple H to make the dream team that Vince had always secretly wanted... that's right, Legacy (with Randy Orton) vs. D-Generation X and Mr. McMahon!
With the additional stipulation of no disqualifications, the fight was anything but ordinary as all the members got a piece of the action. It all came to a head when DX and McMahon had Legacy nearly on the ropes. Unfortunately Randy Orton had the opportunity to save the match for his team, and nearly earned the opportunity to punt Mr. McMahon in the head one more time. HBK came to his rescue, (who would have ever thought that would happen?) however Randy Orton made his escape from HBK's grasp and started back up the entrance ramp, clearly not wanting to continue the match.
That's when DX and McMahon got some unexpected help... the theme song of John Cena hit and Cena himself appeared at the top of the ramp to "escort" Randy Orton back into the ring! With No DQs in play, Cena didn't mind sticking around to help put Randy Orton down for the count; Orton took a Sweet Chin Music from HBK followed by an Attitude Adjustment and Vince McMahon himself scored the pinfall.
In the end, DX stood tall with McMahon and Cena by their sides. And as great as the past two nights have been for DX and all of us D-Generates, there is sure to be more to come—because if we can count on anything, it's that Randy Orton and the Legacy won't take this defeat lying down.
