On October 18, 2009, TNW superstars Benny Johnston and CL Strong suffered serious back injuries during the Top of the Cell match for the Cage Championship that will keep both superstars out of action for a minimum of thirty days.  Johnston suffered a sprained back when sent through the cell roof and through the flaming tables inside the ring.  He also suffered minor burns.  Strong suffered a sprained back and severe lacerations when he went through the barbed wire covered tables surrounding the cell.  As such, CWW management has limited Top of the Cell matches to once every year to prevent further injuries associated with the brutal match.
