Some random thoughts as my mouth waters over the thought of these Krispy Kreme Cheeseburgers.... and the rarely-seen-in-the-wild Krispy Kreme Veggieburger.
I've been a big fan of HBO series Entourage and the new vampire drama, True Blood. So I was excited to hear that famed TV producer Norman Lear is talking with HBO about bringing a series about the 1970's era of sports-entertainment to life.
This from Reuters today:
Written by Aaron Blitzstein and produced by Lear's Act III Prods., the character-driven drama, tentatively titled "Everybody Hurts," revolves around a family running a pro-wrestling business in New York and peeks into the lives of the wrestlers and their fans.
Lear and Act III's Lara Bergthold, who are executive producing the project, had wanted to do a show about pro wrestling for a while.
"Pro wrestling is a pretty fair reflection of good and evil in our culture," Lear said.
Added Bergthold, "Wrestling is where people turn to when they feel the government is lying to them and there are no real heroes in their lives."
No date on when this will air on HBO, but for a network that's been struggling to recover from the loss of The Sopranos and Sex in the City, this series could bring a whole new audience to the network. Looking forward to it ...
But hey, let's not forget WWE's big shows coming up this week, as we take our 1-2 Punch to MyNetwork TV ... The broadcast debut of WrestleMania on Thursday night and the network debut of Friday Night SmackDown.
And of course, Sunday's an action-packed night on WWE Universe, with the No Mercy Live Blog, live from Portland, Oregon. Candice Michelle is our special guest, starting at 7:30 p.m. ET, with other Superstars joining the blog throughout the night's action.
Set up an e-mail invite for yourself below....hope to see you all then!
