With Jeff Hardy having been hospitalized after collapsing earlier in the day in Boston, I don't really see him being able to compete at tonight's triple threat Match for the WWE Championship. So I've made my change. Now I'm predicting Vladimir Kozlov to beat Triple H and either Jeff Hardy or his replacement, and win the WWE Championship.

This PPV, of course, is known for its screwjobs, and the three traditional tag team matches should be a good one, taking up at least 1 hour of the show. Main questions, though, are: who gets screwed, and who does it?
To me, there are two strong possiblities here. The most likely man doing the screwjob at the World Heavyweight Championship match is Randy Orton. The Legend Killer has beaten both Chris Jericho & John Cena in title matches, so this would be no surprise. If Edge does come back to screw someone up, it'll either be at the end of the Casket Match between Big Show & Undertaker, or the WWE Championship match, which is now a triple threat.
Since the WWE Championship is a triple-threat match, that means there is no disqualifications. The winner must score pinfall or submission in the ring. Expect plenty of weapons to be used here, whether it's steel chairs, ladders, or even the trusty sledgehammer. This is a great opportunity to see two things happen, as I don't see Triple H holding the belt that much longer. Either Vladimir Kozlov will continue his unbeaten streak, and rise to the top for Mother Russia; or Jeff Hardy will fly high and score the win off the Swanton Bomb.
For the Traditional Survivor Series matches, if Team JBL wants to have a better chance to win, then they must make eliminating The Great Khali their priority. After that, with Kane & JBL providing the spearhead, they can dominate everyone else, including Shawn Michaels. HBK's psyche must be down after getting superkicked by John Morrison, plus getting screwed out of the LMS match by JBL. For Team Batista v. Team Orton, Mark Henry makes a great backbone for Orton's squad. He will likely be key to wearing down opponents before anyone else can finish them off. On the flip side, taking out Mark Henry will be key for Team Batista, as Batista is capable of doing that.
The Divas are in action this year, although I don't see any lip-locking from Mickie James this year. Beth Phoenix can definitely use this one to show why she's the most dominant woman in the WWE today. For The Undertaker & Big Show in their casket match, I see Big Show winning this one so that Edge could make his return. If so, then look for some wild twists & turns going into Armageddon.
My year-end award candidates & thoughts on FCW grads.
My candidates for 2008 WWE Magazine Honors
Please note: These are just who I feel are the leading candidates for the honors that will or may be given out by the editors of WWE Magazine in their January or February 2009 issue, and do not reflect their views in any possible way.
SUPERSTARS OF THE YEAR
Triple H - Up to this point, he has the longest reign as a major champion at over 6 months--winning the WWE Championship by getting the Pedigree pinfall on Randy Orton at Backlash, before he got drafted to Smackdown, taking the belt with him. So far, Triple H has successfully defended his belt against Randy Orton, John Cena, Edge, The Great Khali, Jeff Hardy, The Brian Kendrick, MVP, and Shelton Benjamin. It is possible that he may eventually lose the belt to Vladimir Kozlov either at Survivor Series or Armageddon, but there is no denying, so far, that he is the leading candidate for Superstar of the Year.
Batista - Last year's choice for Superstar of the Year, Batista has had his share of ups and downs, being the 2nd last man eliminated at the Royal Rumble, getting the win on Umaga at Wrestlemania 24, and having other successes at PPV's, including blowing out a disk in John Cena's spine by a crushing Batista Bomb at Summerslam. However, he has had his lows, getting bettered at No Way Out by Taker, HBK at Backlash, Edge at Night of Champions, and getting screwed by JBL, Kane, and Chris Jericho while CM Punk was World Heavyweight Champion. He finally did get the belt at Cyber Sunday, beating Chris Jericho with Stone Cold Steve Austin as special guest referee. He's making his case this year, but I feel that he'll come up short this year to The Game.
Matt Hardy - A definite choice for Comeback of the Year, given that he screwed MVP at the WM24 Money in the Bank Match, then went on to hold the elusive US Championship from Backlash--Great American Bash, before winning the ECW Championship from Mark Henry in the scramble match at Unforgiven. Currently one of the top stars on the ECW roster, this veteran will certainly make Mark Henry, The Miz, & John Morrison work hard to wrest the belt from him, and people will certainly look forward to an upcoming title rematch between him and Evan Bourne.
DIVA OF THE YEAR
Beth Phoenix - Undoubtedly the most dominant Diva today, The Glamazon has held the Women's Championship twice this year, holding it for the first four months of the year before losing it in that Victory Roll to Mickie James in London on Raw, then took it back from Mickie at Summerslam. Reversed out of Candice's Candywrapper to finish her off with her new Glam Slam facebuster finisher at No Mercy--a move she likely perfected after suffering that Victory Roll from Mickie. It'll be interesting to see if she does get such an honor or not, but if she does, then she most deserves it.
Michelle McCool - The first ever Divas Champion for the women on Smackdown has been the most popular woman on Friday Night. Surprised many people at the Great American Bash when she used a Heel Lock submission to force favored Natalya Neidhart to tap out. Has certainly improved her skill continuously, successfully fending off her latest challenger in the other Canadian Diva, Maryse. Will be interesting to see if she'll be successful in defending her belt against Maria. The most likely 2nd Choice for this honor.
ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
Kofi Kingston - Debuted in January on ECW, scoring 13 straight wins and got embroiled in a feud with Shelton Benjamin, who ended his streak when both were on that brand. Got drafted to Raw, then scored his first taste of gold by beating Chris Jericho for the Intercontinetal Championship. Held that belt for a couple of months before losing it to Santino Marella at Summerslam. Just scored his first World Tag Team Championship with CM Punk--a good push considering the eventual comebacks of John Cena & Randy Orton. Certainly a popular superstar today with his "Boom! Boom! Boom!"
Evan Bourne - Debuted on the 6/3 ECW as Matt Sydal when he jobbed with Shelton Benjamin. Clearly became an official member the following week through Teddy Long's New Superstar Initiative as Evan Bourne and wowed the crowd with his high-flying moves, and the Shooting Star Press. Fast-rising rookie got his title shot against Matt Hardy at Cyber Sunday, earning Matt's respect despite losing that match. A definite contender for the ECW Championship Belt.
Vladimir Kozlov - The Moscow Mauler has left a trail of destruction since his debut on Smackdown. Currently undefeated, he is now gunning for Triple H's WWE Championship, and could likely get it at Survivor Series. A leading candidate for the belt today, there are only a few (on paper) that can end his streak.
MATCH OF THE YEAR
Wrestlemania 24: Career Threatening Match between Ric Flair & Shawn Michaels - This match clearly marked the end of a glorious career for a legend in Pro Wrestling. This was definitely a great way for Ric Flair to go out, and one that people will talk about for a very long time.
One Night Stand: TLC Match for the World Heavyweight Championship between Edge & The Undertaker - This one was an epic match, worthy of an Extreme Rules PPV, with both wrestlers gunning for the belt. It is not often that alot of tables gets smashed through, much less for one to go through two, or even four tables, which Taker went through at the end of the match, paving the way for Edge to win the belt and banish the Deadman for a good part of the summer.
Summerslam: John Cena v. Batista - This was the first time that both men had faced off against each other, even if this was the one where John Cena's disk in his neck exploded. Both wrestlers exchanged momentum and power slams, and the way Batista caught Cena in mid air and dropped a Batista Bomb on him that caused the spinal disk to rupture, was--at the time--awe-inspiring.
FEUD OF THE YEAR
Batista & Shawn Michaels v. Chris Jericho - It all started at WM24, when Ric Flair was forced to retire, then really came to a boil at Backlash, when HBK seemed to fake an injury, and it made Chris Jericho question Shawn's honesty. This is what gave Jericho the turn to heel, and the rest is well known. Undoubtedly, this feud continues with Batista & Chris Jericho jostling for the World Heavyweight Championship, and who knows when this one will end.
"La Familia" v. The Undertaker - Although this one has cooled off a little, back in the early part of the year, it was pretty much 1 v. 6, with Edge & Smackdown GM Vickie Guerrero leading the charge. From the triangle chokehold, to the stripping and later banishment, to the latest chapter in the feud with Big Show joining the fray. Currently, it's a battle between Taker & Big Show, and it will be interesting to see what is played out when Edge does return.
MOST IMPROVED WRESTLER
I see only three Divas who have clearly improved, as none of the veteran superstars made any significant improvement this year. The three Divas are: Kelly Kelly, Maria, and Maryse. Kelly Kelly would be the best choice, as she has gone from being an Expose dancer, to one who could later get a shot at Beth Phoenix for the Women's Championship. The best superstar who has a chance at the honor is Shelton Benjamin.
TAG TEAM OF THE YEAR
This is a clear lock to me, as it is the Dirt Sheet duo of John Morrison & The Miz. Although they lost their WWE Tag Team belts at the Great American Bash to Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder in a four-team match, there is no denying that they have great chemistry despite their individual egos, and through The Dirt Sheet, show that they have plenty of humor as well. They could well be holding the WWE Tag Team belts at the end of the year, as they look to be the superior team to current holders, Carlito & Primo Colon.
FUNNY GUY OF THE YEAR - No brainer, Santino Marella.
SHOCKER OF THE YEAR - Either Mike Adamle being named as Raw GM; Vickie Guerrero stripping Taker of the World Heavyweight Championship, then banishing him; or Edge being caught having an affair with Alicia Fox before he and Vickie were "wed".
PPV THEME SONG OF THE YEAR - "Light it Up" (WM24) or "Hell Yeah" (One Night Stand); both by Rev Theory
Thoughts on recent FCW "grads" - those who have made it up to the big league
This fall, a good number of wrestlers have moved up from Florida Championship Wrestling, up to the WWE, joining Kofi, Natalya, & Ted Dibiase, Jr. Already, most of them are making an impact on the big brands, and it will be interesting to see how they are used going into the winter. (Information based on the recent WWE Magazine articles on FCW & previous events.)
MANU (A.K.A. AFA, JR.) - Certainly made a big splash at Unforgiven, helping Cody Rhodes & Ted Dibiase, Jr. put away Cryme Tyme, then CM Punk. The Samoan has been more of an enforcer lately, so it will be interesting to see when he gets an opportunity to show what he can really do in the ring, especially in singles competition.
BRIE BELLA - She has certainly given Natalya & Victoria some nightmares since her debut on Smackdown, going under the ring, then playing peek-a-boo before coming up behind them and getting the roll-up pinfall. One half of The Bella Twins, it will be interesting to see when she'll get a shot at the Divas Championship, as her skills look to be right there with the others on Smackdown. Some say that her other half, Nicole, is already there, too; and if that's the case, then it'll be interesting to see when they'll storyline the part where both twins become officially recognized.
KIZARNY (A.K.A. SINN BOWDIE) - Carnival freak is on his way to Smackdown after spending some time honing his skills. With a fairly loaded Smackdown roster, it'll be interesting to see how he's used early on, but my guess says he'll be a low-mid carder early on to show what he can do in the big league.
