Smackdown interesting spoilers for this week & WRESTLEMANIA PLANS

Thursday, November 26, 2009, 04:27 PM EST [General]

    html_removed html_removed html_removed html_removed

Warning: The following contains a *Spoiler* for Friday's SmackDown:

Batista defeated Kane at Tuesday's SmackDown tapings to become the #1 contender to the Undertaker's World Heavyweight title. The two will square off at TLC in a Chairs Match. With that match confirmed, here's the updated card:

Tables Match for the WWE Title
    John Cena vs. Sheamus

Chairs Match for the World Heavyweight Title
    The Undertaker vs. Batista

Ladder Match for the ECW Title
    Christian vs. Shelton Benjamin

TLC Match for the Unified Tag Team Titles
Chris Jericho & Big Show vs. DX

The WWE superstar formerly known as Festus has been repackaged and is now aligned with C.M. Punk. During Tuesday night's SmackDown taping, Festus joined Punk in the ring and announced himself as Luke Gallos. Gallos acted like a normal guy and blamed his previous mental condition on years of drug abuse. Punk took credit for helping Gallos get off drugs and has taken him under his wing. Gallos is expected to serve as Punk's enforcer.

Major WrestleMania 26 Rumors & **SPOILERS**

    - There are rumors, that The Undertaker will retain his World Heavyweight Championship until Royal Rumble, where he will lose his title against Batista, in that way Batista will go to Wrestlemania as a champion, that are the current WWE plans.

    - There is a feeling in WWE that something special needs to be done with The Undertaker for WrestleMania 26. WWE knows that more and more fans are tired of the same old matches and want to deliver a match that fans have not seen before. The Dead Man’s health continues to deteriorate and he’s less mobile now than he’s ever been, so his year as a Wrestlemania draw are certainly winding down. Right now, a match with John Cena is being strongly considered as the main event for WrestleMania and in WWE are considering to finish with Undertaker´s streak record against John Cena.

    - There is also talk of a Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels match at WrestleMania 26. The two have wrestled each other many times before, but not in several years and never on the grand stage of WrestleMania. While DX is still one of the top babyface acts in WWE, this one makes sense and WWE may have planted the seed for the match at Survivor Series with HBK superkicking the Game in the opening moments of their triple threat match with John Cena.

    - At one point, there had been a plan for a CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio Hair vs. Mask match at WrestleMania 26, but this is unlikely to happen now considering Mysterio’s injury problems.

For those keeping track, Dolph Ziggler has taken part in twenty-six Intercontinental title matches at various events (televised and non-televised) within the past few months, losing all but two. He won one match via count-out with another match being ruled a double count-out. Furthermore, he has come up short in retrieving the title on television on seven different occasions including Night of Champions, SummerSlam, Hell in the Cell and four separate episodes of Friday Night SmackDown!.

Ziggler was at one point scheduled to win the title from Rey Mysterio over the summer, but the high-flying Superstar vetoed dropping the title to him on more than one occasion. When push came to shove as a result of a 30-day suspension for violating the company's drug testing policy in early September, Mysterio agreed to drop the title to John Morrison.

Now it appears that the ship has sailed on Ziggler nabbing the gold as WWE officials have reportedly "given up on him."

On a related noted, Ziggler was voted the "Most Deserving of a Title Shot" among his peers in the "Superstar Survey" taken for the latest issue of WWE Magazine.

For those unaware, Dolph Ziggler and ECW Diva Nikki Bella are dating again, although they actually have been together for a while. Click

Linda McMahon is getting some criticism from Republicans and Democrats alike for her wishy-washy response to a question about whether the 9/11 trials should be held in New York. "I'll probably have more firm policy statements after the first of the year," she said. A Republican opponent said that her refusal to pick a side shows her inexperience. A spokesman for one of Linda's Republican opponents in the Senate race said, "It is deeply disappointing that when given the opportunity to stand firm against Sen. Dodd's dangerous and misguided approach, Mrs. McMahon took a pass. It goes to show that slick campaign ads and an army of high-priced consultants can't buy the experience and judgment necessary to keep our nation safe." UPDATE: The McMahon campaign now tells Courant.com: "Linda is opposed to trying Khalid Sheik Mohammad in civilian court. Her position on terrorist trials is crystal clear and unwavering, just as it is with cap-and-trade, card check legislation, government-run healthcare and runaway spending."

    Hulk Hogan & Y2J interviews

Thursday, November 26, 2009, 04:16 PM EST [General]

    html_removed html_removed html_removed html_removed

Hulk Hogan did an interview for the SportFM 91.3 radio in Perth, Australia and I figured I'd transcribe the more interesting non-Hulkamania tour questions from the interview so here it goes:

Question: Can I ask you about your relationship with Vince McMahon? Is it still good?

Hulk Hogan: Brother, it's a love-hate relationship, you know. I talk to him once in a while when he needs a main event for WrestleMania but right now, once I get done with this Australian tour, I'm going back to the United States where I signed a deal to run a company called TNA - Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. It's another promotion that you guys are very familiar with here in Australia and I'm getting ready to take over the helm and it's going to be the number one wrestling company in the world just like when I did back in the 90s when I formed the nWo and we took over the wrestling business. I'm gonna do that again.

Question: Now, when you're at home watching wrestling as a fan who's the wrestler that you like watching in the ring? Who's someone that really captures your attention when you're watching as a fan?

Hulk Hogan: Well brother, I really like watching Kurt Angle. He really understands this business. And also one of my favourite wrestlers of all-time Sting. I really love watching Sting in the ring. And now there's a new kid that's coming up through the ranks and is doing pretty good - a kid named AJ Styles. That's one of the things I like about these new guys - they understand wrestling the old way, the way to really go out and fight for what they want. They don't sit in the back and talk and choreograph the matches like some of the other promotions do and I've really enjoyed watching these guys.

Question: Can you give us any information about what your role in TNA will be? Will we see you as a wrestler in the ring? Will you be behind the scenes? What would your on-air role be? Can you let us in on a little bit?

Hulk Hogan: Well, I signed a deal with Dixie Carter to come in as her partner. I know there are several people on the show - storyline-wise - who say they are part of TNA (management) such as Mick Foley and Jeff Jarrett, but this situation is for real. I'm going in to turn this thing upside-down. I'm gonna pick the whole wrestling business up and bodyslam it and whoever's not on my team - on Team Hogan at TNA - they're gonna be at the bottom of the pile. Just like I did in the early 90s, once I went to work for Eric Bischoff and Ted Turner they became the number one wrestling promotion in the world.

Question: Hulk, if there was one thing you could change about the wrestling industry at this point in time what would it be? How will Hulk Hogan revolutionize the wrestling industry yet again?

Hulk Hogan: Well, the one thing I would change and I'm going to change is..I hate the writers. I cannot stand that they have a writing team sitting in the back telling the wrestlers what to say and telling the wrestlers what to do in the ring. That's one of the reasons why I went to TNA because the other promotion that's what they're all about - scripting the verbiage and scripting the matches and telling the wrestlers what to do. They have a team of writers in the back that don't understand this business, that have never been to the big show, that have never been in the big main events. All the writers are either wrestlers that are midcard wrestlers or they were family members that were handed a pen and paper and told, "You've learned what you've learned from our family now keep writing". They've never learned the wrestling business from being in the middle of the ring in the main event in front of 20, 30, 40, 90 thousand people.

Question: You've been in the ring with the biggest names the wrestling industry's ever seen but there's one wrestler the fans would really love to see you in the ring with. There's one wrestler that you never really got to take on in a one-on-one situation and that of course is "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. Steve Austin versus Hulk Hogan - what would the outcome be?

Hulk Hogan: I ran into Stone Cold one week before I came to Australia. I went to a Gold's Gym in Venice Beach, California and there he was. He was working out during the day. He was doing a movie with my buddy Sylvester Stallone. And I told him, I said, "Brother, I'm going back to work. I'm getting back in the ring. If you want some come get some. Money's not a problem. Your schedule's not a problem. If you really want to get in the ring and you really want to make history then come get into the ring with Hulk Hogan". I did not get an answer.

Question: So you threw the challenge out there but you did not get an answer?

Hulk Hogan: Face-to-face threw the challenge out, in his face.

Question: Back in the 80s with the WWF you helped bring them to the pinnacle of the entertainment industry, then later on you went to WCW and of course then to WWE. Which one of those runs was most memorable to you?

Hulk Hogan: The run that stood out the most was going to WCW with Eric Bischoff to prove who the most powerful man in the wrestling business was. I proved in a short amount of time that where I go the talent goes and that where I go the fans go. And I'm gonna prove it again this time. When I leave Australia - when I'm done with the Hulkamania tour - this may be the last time I ever wrestle. I'm going back to the Unated States and I'm gonna run TNA. I'm gonna be on camera, I'm gonna be behind the scenes taking care of business in the back and if the fans scream and shout loud enough I might even lace the boots up, brother, but I'm not planning on doing that. I'm planning on taking that company and turning it into the number one company in the business. When I leave here that's the mission I'm on and if I do come back to Australia it would probably be with TNA.

Question: And I have to mention this, Hulk. One of my favourite memories of you in the ring was when you took on The Rock at WrestleMania 18 several years ago. You actually went into this match as the so-called bad guy and The Rock was the good guy but you ended up receiving all the cheers from the crowd. That was a unique situation. Can you describe that whole moment for us?

Hulk Hogan: Brother, that goes back to what I'm talking about right now. You have to give the fans what they want and that's what I'm getting ready to do. I'm gonna do the Hulkamania tour and then when I leave here I'm going back to the Unated States and when I work for TNA I'm gonna turn the wrestling business upside-down. That's the same thing that happened with WrestleMania 18. Vince McMahon wanted me to be the bad guy. Vince McMahon wanted to put a bullet in Hulkamania. Vince McMahon put me up against his number one good guy The Rock who had a big push. And when I went out in front of 70,000 people in Toronto the fans told Vince McMahon what they wanted and they booed The Rock out of the building. They proved that the fans predict this business. These fans predict what the atmosphere and the environment in this business is all about. And that's what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna go back to TNA and I'm gonna listen to those fans and give them what they want. I'm not gonna keep shoving a bunch of terrible, horrible, stale programming down their throats. I'm gonna listen to the fans. I'm gonna take the writers and tell them, "Go get another job. Sit in the back. If I need you to write a jingle for a commercial, maybe we'll use you for that". This is the wrestling business. If these wrestlers can't talk and these wrestlers can't wrestle then they need to head for the door.

WWE Unified tag champion Chris Jericho was recently interviewed by Express Night Out. Here's what he said about:

Mr. Lobo Incident: It's frustrating, [but] I guess it's just the world we live in nowadays, so you have to be careful with what you say because nobody has a sense of humor or really understands when you're just shooting the breeze with your friends. So, I got my slap on the wrist, and I'm very, very, very, very sorry to anybody who was offended.

Leaving Wrestling In 2005: I think last time I was burned out after 15 years of being in the business, and kind of really spinning my wheels when I left. I wasn't really mentally there, and if you're not mentally there in this job you might as well just quit because you get hurt or you hurt somebody else...

Hulk Hogan Joining TNA: Anything that makes that company bigger is better for us. Competition is what we thrive on, so good luck to them. I hope they get a real big boost from it.

Survivor Series Interesting Notes & injuries: Rey Misterio & Big Show surgery

Thursday, November 26, 2009, 04:14 PM EST [General]

    html_removed html_removed html_removed html_removed

Batista was cheered heavily at the Survivor Series PPV. That is not the reaction that they are looking for. It should be noted though that they were in Washington, D.C, which is the hometown of 'Big Dave'.

As evidenced last night at Survivor Series, they are pushing Kofi Kingston to the moon and beyond. WWE management is very high on him these days.

There was a legit injury at the Survivor Series PPV as Scott Armstrong, the ref, in the middle of a brawl, saw Sheamus lose his footing and nailed the back of Armstrong's head with a knee. He suffered a legit concussion and was removed from the match as soon as it happened.

The WWE Survivor Series dark match from Washington, DC saw Santino Marella defeat Chavo Guerrero. The match ended with a "cobra eyepoke and rollup". For those wondering, there was no Hornswoggle appearance. Whoo Hoo!

The Undertaker had his mouth busted open the hard way just before the finish of the SD! triple threat match last night at WWE Survivor Series.

    html_removed html_removed html_removed html_removed

    Survivor Series Injuries:

The Big Show got choked out as the finish of the last PPV in the World Title match as he also needs knee surgery, which is why he was wearing the big brace on his left knee.

And  he will indeed be undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery shortly. However, he will not be forced to relinquish his Unified Tag Team Championship as he is not expected to be kept out action for too long. According to fan reports from Sunday night's Survivor Series pay-per-view, Show was in tremendous pain while working and could "barely move."

Rey Mysterio will be getting knee surgery, which is why they did the stretcher job at Survivor Series.

Rey Mysterio's knee is in bad shape and he is expected to have surgery on his ACL shortly.

Batista's 'attack' on Mysterio after their match at Survivor Series and the stretcher job that followed was the setup for him taking time off.

Many within WWE are concerned that this may be it for Mysterio's career. He could be out up to 6-9 months from the surgery, but the full extent of his recovery will not be known until after the procedure.

Mysterio, who recently returned to action following a 30-day Wellness suspension, might miss Wrestlemania 26. Should he miss WrestleMania, it would be the third time in the past four years that he'd miss WWE's showcase event due to injuries.
