Over the years, Shawn Michaels has treated the WWE Universe to many memorable moments. But at SummerSlam, when HBK addresses our fans, it may be the most memorable moment in the career of The Showstopper, because it's then that we'll learn whether Michaels will be returning to in-ring competition.

Michaels is currently suffering from a detached retina, originally sustained when his face was smashed into the Jeri-Tron 6000 by an enraged Chris Jericho. Though he could barely see out of the afflicted eye, HBK fought with Y2J frequently over the coming weeks, culminating in a match at The Great American Bash. The devious Jericho focused all his attentions on the **** in his opponent's armor: Shawn Michaels' right eye. After defeating HBK, Y2J immediately began claiming to have ended Michaels' career by way of severe injuries to his right eye.

A few weeks later, in an exclusive interview on Raw, Shawn Michaels addressed the WWE Universe, stating that he is indeed severely injured not only with his detached retina, but also multiple problems related to his broken ribs. While The Showstopper is laid up for now, the jury is still out on whether he will be able to return to the ring. HBK has one more medical evaluation, for which he will find out the results the Friday before SummerSlam. Then, two days later, at the Biggest Blockbuster of the Summer, Michaels will share his doctor's findings, which will determine whether HBK will be allowed to compete again.
